The Pioneer Press reports the Carolina Panthers have hired former Louisville assistant coach Tony Levine as their new special teams coach

Don't know much about this guy, but I'm interested to know more.

What happened to Danny Crossman? I haven't heard anything about him.

Are you sure he isn't taking the Strength and Conditioning/Assistant Special Teams position that was vacant?

I don't think that Crossman was fired. That would have made some news. I think this guy will be the Strength and Conditioning coach.

I find it hard to believe that Darin Gantt or the Charlotte Observer wouldn't have reported anything about Danny Crossman being fired.

There is more to special teams than returning kicks. For the record though, Steve Smith did awesome in his returns...which is technically a special teams area.

Louisville has very good special teams, this is a great move for us.

Naw, our Runningback's coach is more than up to task, it won't hinder the development of Shelton or LeFors having a familiar face, but I think its more for ST than anything else.

We had 3 or 4 punt returns over 40 yards last year. Gamble had the 76 yard one. In the same game, smith returned one for a TD (but it was called back on a BS call), Smith had one for a return in the playoffs, and he has one other big one during the season.
