NFL :domestic violence first offense..6 games ...lifetime ban 2nd offense

Once this all blows over it will be business as usual. Not every incident will have an elevator video for people to put their 2cents in. Notice the word 'accuse' is not mentioned and that will be the loophole. If the court find the player not guilty or person fail to press charges then see you on Sunday.

I doubt that video is as bad as it looked, rarely is. I don't think she would have married him if it was as simple as him knocking her out in an elevator.

Wait.... What?

Whatever happened in the elevator is irrelevant. Unless his life was in danger there isn't anything that could have happened that necessitated getting punched in the face.

You should probably just go back and delete this post.

I think the new policy is great.

Playing in the NFL is not a right.

They agree to follow policy.

It's very clearly stated.

So I don't feel sorry for any player that breaks those rules. Any of them. If they aren't responsible enough to follow the rules, then they shouldn't be in the NFL.

Don't like? Oh well.

So when is it acceptable to punch a woman in the face?

Reason #1:  When the woman isn't acting like a woman.

Let me save you the trouble

"Blah Blah, she is weak, you are strong"

"Yada, Yada,  there is never any reason for a man to hit a woman"

"Hurr Blur, if you were a real man you could walk away inside the elevator"

For the record, I don't advocate hitting women.  I think in a vast majority of the cases if you would just leave the problems won't happen.  But the thing that causes me to respond to these post are people who deal in absolutes.

No man should hit a woman, and no woman should hit a man.  Period end of.  Every man that hits a woman isn't Ike Turner. Every woman that hits a man isn't (insert small woman name whom I can't think of right now).

This is not a black and white issue.  I don't know why you guys keep trying to make it one.  The reason Goodell gave him a 2 game suspension was because he saw the "complete picture".  The reason he changed his stance is because of the "public outrage".

If a guy 110lbs came up to a 220lb guys face...started talking smack, starting getting in his way.  Started finger pointing, slapping, biting and kicking him then the bigger guy knocks him out everyone here would say that's what should have happened.  He should have know better than to start something like that with someone who could kick his ass.  It's the same for women.  They should be respected, cherished and protected.  However they should not be given absolute freedom to do whatever to the man.  They needle is starting to go to far the other way.

Lifetime ban is harsh

I don't think it should be so black and white.  That is pretty harsh.  They should look at each case.  Seriously, if what Rice did to his now wife happened exactly the same again, then goodbye.  The NFL doesn't need people like you in the league.  What Hardy is being accused of, imho, is nowhere near as egregious.  If what he says is true, then he was being attacked by his girlfriend and her high heel shoe.  Not the same as what Rice did.  NFL is just being the NFL and overreacting to the negative publicity that they received for giving Rice a ridiculous 2 game suspension.  That creep should have been suspended for the entire year MINIMUM!!!!!    I mean, what did they think would be said when they gave a 2 game suspension for a player KNOCKING OUT his girlfriend?????  They were stupid then and they are definitely stupid now, because it ties there hands and forces a lifetime suspension without considering all the facts of a case.  Not that it would ever happen, but imagine if golden boy Luck did this twice.  The league and the media would be on suicide watch over it.

This is the post I agree with the most.

No one should hit ANYONE, however, everyone has a right to defend themselves, whether it be from a tiny 110 lb person, or a behemoth. If you feel your life is threatened then you should be able to react accordingly. Like you said, the issue isn't black and white. Maybe more information will come out and it will delve into greater detail on what does and doesn't constitute the punishment.
