NFL :domestic violence first offense..6 games ...lifetime ban 2nd offense

Goodell is an idiot.  As has already been seen through the first four pages of this thread, there are myriad obstacles to enforcing this "rule":  NFLPA; definition of key terms; court proceedings and how they affect NFL decision making.  There is A LOT going on with this rule, and to think you can come in and say, "two strikes, you're out," is beyond ridiculous.  poo like this doesn't get done over night, which is why, although well-intentioned, Goodell is painted as such a terrible leader.

If you can't differentiate from the kind of women who have the potential of going bat poo crazy and the ones who won't then you deserve to be in that situation.

You think they start out acting crazy? The craziest ones are adept at hiding it.  It's the way they stay functional in society.  Trust me on this...you have no idea if you think they give early warning signs.

As a guy who has fugged his way through Miami, I can tell you that is bullocks. Women are excellent in hiding their cray-cray side. They're experts at it.

While I haven't fuged my way through any area, I agree.  Women have a cray cray side.  I had a perfectly nice woman for as long as I known her nail me with a tv remote than grabbed my dog and ran when we broke up. True what the fug just happened moment.

Edit:  Maybe not all women have a cray cray side but ones that do can hide that side.

If they try to put 6 games on Hardy, he'll have a good case against it because it was pre-altercation.

I still don't think Hardy gets convicted though, there is a lot of odd stuff in that case.

The way the court system is in America, men are fighting an uphill battle when a woman makes allegations.   Just a call without evidence can get a guy locked up in NC at least.  I seen it with my brother and his ex-wife.  So this will be hard to deal with, not all these cases will have a clear video like Ray Rice.

I wouldn't rule out signing Hardy back, especially if he dominates.  How could we let him go after that?  We'll have some leverage if he actually gets convicted.

I would never defend someone that hits a woman, but a lifetime ban is a harsh punishment.  This opens up players to a ton of issues regarding their relationships off the field.  To think that a significant other  may be able to hold a career over a players head is a scary thought.  Especially, with the amount of lunatic money hungry people there are in this world.

Another question is this:  With the introduction of the gay athlete becoming so prevalent, are they held to the same standard.  Say Michael Sam and his significant other get in a brawl....is the punishment equal?  What about a bar fight like we witnessed in Tampa with Mike Evans, could the guy he's fighting make a case against him for that being a domestic dispute?

Just some things to ponder.

The NFL has a 24-Hour line to call a cab for free. With this new punishment in place, they need a 24-Hour legalized prostitution line to call that is free. So they can just screw em and tell them to leave.

Emotional involvement, love, and commitment is awfully risky with millions of dollars and a career on the line.

This is a silly and over reactive decision by the NFL but they are a private organization and can do what they want mostly.

First of all the players and owners are governed by the CBA and while I haven't fully read it my understanding is that it demands certain punishments (mandatory drug suspensions) and leaves others to the discretion of Goodell. If Goodell decides to suspend Hardy for 6 games down the road a lawyer can't legitimately sue over that, rather it will be in the hands of the arbitration committee since that is likely what the CBA dictates. Unless the CBA has rules regarding grandfathering Hardy would like be at the mercy of arbitration. Of course lawyers can sue or argue for anything.

The analogy would be you getting fired at your workplace when the last guy only got reprimanded for lewd conduct. If your HR handbook says the CEO can dole out punishment as he pleases you aren't getting far with lawyering up.

However the penalties for domestic violence and drug violations have been in place for a long time and the NFL is only acting now because Mike & Mike et. al. have latched onto it. The NFL could have adjusted their punishment ages ago but they choose to do so now because it made the news.

So Hardy will pay because Rice was let off too easy... seems fair to me.

Mind you, we have video of Mrs. Rice getting KTFO'd by Ray but she says it was her fault so it's all good.

What this really means is that it was Hardy's fault Ray beat up his wife.
