For Those Concerned about Cotchery and Avant:

In a normal year I may agree with you. But this has not been a normal year. You do have to take into account the lack of practice Cam has had. The more they play together, the better they will be.

I guess folks are losing faith in Cam. I can't think of another reason folks are worried about our passing game. Cam has shown he can get the job done. Is he all of a sudden going to lose his abilities?

I have a ton of faith in Cam.

Avant and Cotchery didn't suddenly forget how to play, they'll be fine.

Will they put up eye-popping stats? no... but they'll go a long well in helping us replace those 10 passing plays a game we need from the WR position to keep our run-first offense on schedule.

Olsen + KB = all we really need in the passing game... anything that Cotchery, Avant and the rest of the WR's do is icing on the cake.

Avant's catch where Cam threw him open was a thing of beauty.

I'm not even worried about preseason. We talkin about preseason.

Let me know when Cam starts missing wide open receivers outside of a scrimmage.

that one stuck out to me but i haven't heard many people mention it.  i wanted to make a gif of that catch after i saw it mentioned but i didn't have access to the rip of the game earlier

i think this was the play if we're thinking of the same thing:

the tv broadcast replay showed a perfect angle from the endzone and you can see what a nice connection it truly was.  cam put the ball about a foot outside of the DB's right shoulder with avant turning out and the ball hitting him square in the hands.  it went from what looked like blanket coverage to a pitch and catch that the defender couldn't do a thing about.  unfortunately that angle isn't in my copy of the game.

I once played QB in a backyard football game when some other kids had to go eat, so I think I know a little bit about the position.  Cam knows that he can throw to KB when he is covered and KB has the advantage.  I don't think you can say that about the others.  I think--guessing here---that Bersin could become that kind of WR--using Proehlish body control and hands to win battles.

Cam has always missed a few wide open receivers in the regular season.

Cam isnt known to be a precision passer.....

My point is that two of the last three years Cotchery has produced like a fourth or fifth string receiver. And we are going to try him as a three with no fallback option. It could go badly.

Sorry, "thumping your chest" is such a trigger phrase for you.

Cotchery, was coming off a career threatening neck injury. So for several seasons after he wasn't that great.

Last year, he had a banner year, and you can argue, it was after he became healthy again.

I'm hoping the staff feel like they know what they have with the 2 vets and are designing plays to get KB reps, but who knows.

That's sort of what I've been hoping.

Or maybe they're just trying to put different tendencies on film.

Or this is all just wishful thinking and the production isn't there.

I love how people are overlooking KB when bashing our "worst WR corps in the league." Today's NFL rookies have immediate impact. KB is going to be such a monster, im fully confident I could even look like a competent QB if KB was my WR, just throw it in KB's area code and its a completion. He doesnt even need separation, he just catches it.
