Yo ho ho it's a pirates life for me - smack approved

Makes me long for the days when that Bucs Apple Roof Cleaning guy would come in and talk smack about my choice in roof shingles.

--------------------------------------

Matt Ryan wears braided belts.

I kind of miss him. He was good at promoting his company, making it sound like a necessary service even though I've never known a single person that had their roof cleaned.

Wonder if he got too close to the edge during the offseason?

I really just want to hear someone defend or hype up the Bucs new uniforms.  "So long we have waited to get out of the creamsicles and into something MRSA-free that looks like you woke up drunk and vomited Cheetos on your alarm clock."

I think TB would safely be the first team in NFL history to go from one year of being a disease-ridden garbage fire with 4 wins to the playoffs.  So good luck to them accomplishing that feat.

I can't remember how many arguments I had with Bucs fans at BofA before/during/after this (

) happened about who would have a better career: Newton or Josh Freeman.  I have to include his first name, since he's no one now and he managed to go from being a possible 100$ million dollar free agent to waiver trash in like 4 seconds and yet he's STILL the BEST QB in their franchise history.  They finally draft a franchise-hopeful who looks like a muppet-giraffe and then replace him with a faceless journeyman just because he can throw jump balls to Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall?  Don't get me wrong.  I get that they would be excited for a new coaching era especially after Schiano's MRSA filled reign.  Hell he wasn't even good enough to get the normal Wins-Above-Raheem-Morris that you get from pretty much any new coach.  Still.  I just don't get how anyone can be overly excited about Lovie Smith's style of "I want our defense to be great.  So great.  But you have to make sure our QB is complete trash that exactly 31 other teams would not take so for every game we win, everyone says "OMG look at the defense that was so good it overcame <insert any starting Lovie Smith QB here>!""

Anyways I hope they're excited for 2014 cause I know the defending NFC South Champs are.  I'm glad personally that we've bought into the notion that you can have a stifling top 5 defense AND a franchise QB (who has apparently been playing with a hurt ankle his entire career and all of the sudden people want to care that he's scuffed up).  It's football.  Everyone's gonna get scuffed.  But at the end of the day, that LB that they want to compare sooo much to the defensive player of the year?  He's half a foot and 20 pounds smaller than our quarterback.  Hmm.  That's almost a more embarrassing situation than trading for a star CB and then releasing him to avoid paying a 1.5 million bonus.  Or having twice Jacksonville's population with worse attendance than the Jaguars. Jacksonville.  JACKSONVILLE.  Their baseball team has won 90 games like 4 years in a row or something?  And you can't even get out of WORST in THAT league in attendance.  What a garbage fanbase.

For all the people talking on TV, ESPN actually predicts them to improve 1 win, to 5-11.  I think that's a much more realistic expectation.  Built into that expectation is that they'll get swept by Carolina, and beat 27-3 this week.  Good luck to them.  Keep Pounding.

Given how quickly their opportunity to talk smack wanes every season, you can't fault their lack of seasoning in the area.

But you would think with their small window of opportunity they would be ready at the start of the season with some good material. I mean...this is week one after all.
