how to post a gif

I can't paste to this site anymore. I've even tried the control v function and nothing. Just had my laptop completely restored and still can't. All other sites no problem.

There's a pretty simple workaround for that. After you've copied what you wanted to paste into a post, type any text you want, could be 1 character long or 18, it just needs to be selectable. Then you can right-click what you selected and paste the link or picture in its place.

I've run into this problem myself and as far as I know it's been a complaint a number of people have had on here.

Btw a general note on posting gifs and images or other content for the masses. Most of the gifs/pictures I post are from imgur or tumblr. Tumblr I find I use slightly more for gifs, but imgur is also my go-to image host for uploading pictures/gifs that I either have on my local machine or have to upload from another site when the code for the site sucks and I just can't get it to embed the URL on here. Imgur is great, you don't even need an account and I'm pretty sure the images you post will stay there for some time. Never hotlink anything from photobucket or imageshack. I repeat: NEVER HOTLINK FROM PHOTOBUCKET OR IMAGESHACK, even if you have an account. If you fail to follow this rule I will call you illiterate and assume your main personal contact account is hosted on AOL mail. Those sites are garbage in the realm of hotlinking nazis, and besides, uploads are constantly being deleted sporadically by their subscribers, so you have basically no control over the images you post. I know that's not a big deal to some, and in the grand scheme of life it really isn't, but when I post an image for example, I'd like to come back a few hours later and see that the post and its content made it into the ether instead of seeing some ugly image blocked graphic with a stupid gold frog on it.

For YouTube videos both using yt tags and embedding the link work, but are horribly inconsistent for displaying. I often find a YouTube link I posted work fine in the full version of the site, but invisible when accessing the site on my phone. I find using media tags and pasting the URL within works best.
