NfL.com: Cam has taken 467 hits or sacks in three years

didnt someone already post this via some bogus ESPN chart? i thought we had established then that Cam's hits and sacks are so high because of the type of QB he is. He scrambles and is normally hit in the open field. also, Cam is like any other QB. sometimes defenses rattle him around in the pocket. i still dont understand why people freak out about this. the hits are ALWAYS going to be there. even with pro bowl starters at every position on the line, Cam would still get pressured and possibly sacked at times. But Cam is always going to scramble and get hit. even when he is old and on the verge of retirement, he'll still be making those types of plays, albeit much less of them.

I would say ideally in a season or two, Cam has no more than 60 rush attemts per year.

i would comfortable with that. let Cam bail out plays when need be. draw up the occasional short yardage QB keeper. but 60 attempts still allows Cam to be Cam and still protects him and lengthens his NFL life. as long as he learns to protect himself and continues to hone the pocket passing skills he has demonstrated before, 60 attempts will be perfect for this offense.

Have u guys ever thought that Cam plays the way he does because he knows what he has to work with on his offense?

What is so funny is, when I see highlights of the other young QBs like Luck, RG and Colin, if they get sacked one to many times, their fans and the media, start screaming that the team needs to protect them more. But not with you Panther fans and Cam. U take everything about Cam for granted, including his talent.

Having your QB as your leading rusher every year is never a good thing when he is the franchise.

This myth has to stop. He out rushed Deangelo by 4 yards in 2012.

He has never lead the team in rushing attempts.

The only reason it's even close is our running backs by committee with rotating injuries. I agree, he runs the ball too much. But this "Cam is our running game" line is derogatory to the rest of the team.

It doesn't matter why he was hit, 467 is a big number. Cam doesn't give up on plays. We were cheering when he dove head first into linebackers as a rookie. The most important change for me is to run the ball more effectively without him. Next is Cam's mentality. He needs to throw his way out of trouble, not run. When he feels pressure the ball gets tucked and you know the play won't end without Cam taking a hit.

some strong denialism going on itt

eventually getting hit constantly by roided athletes is going to take a toll on you, even if you're 6'5 245 ibs. and no, theres rarely such a thing as a pussy tackle in the nfl, just because cam doesn't get fuged up by kenjon barner every play doesn't mean that he won't wake up sore every morning

And yet Cam has had more passing attempts in the pocket than RG3, Wilson and Kaeperdick. The point remains, Cam has taken too many hits already.

Cam has played 3 seasons. They haven't. So he should have more.
