Hurry-Up/High Tempo Offense

Recommended Posts

From some of tweets I was reading in training camp our offense seemed to struggle with the hurry up. I just believe it fits Cams skillset pretty well and could mask some of our deficiencies offensively this season.

Why do the fans of this team always looking for things to mask this team's weaknesses instead of demand that they get fixed?

It's time to stop masking and start fixing. Consistency should be the name of the game, not hope and pray.

Can a fan really demand weaknesses to be fixed? You can hope and pray for them to get fixed as a fan... But demanding things to get fixed won't change a thing. I'm not in the locker room and I'm not on the coaching staff. Quite frankly we haven't had the cap space to really address needs and attempt to fix problems. We have been forced to band-aid positions of need until we can actually be contenders in free agency. Luckily we have a good nucleus of young guys and vets that allow us to compete despite some glaring holes across the board.

I was gonna make this thread before the start of the season to let people know that's the only way we'll see consistency out of this offense this year. Maine done stole my damn thread

Doesn't really matter if Cam ability to play is in question now smh

He runs a ball control O. He wants to play to the D and control the clock. That is what Shula is.....and it worked last year. 12-4.

We can always bring Chud back if people miss the ESPN highlights

it's not one or the other..  it would behoove Shula to use his talent to his advantage and he has the height and TEs to do something other than keep his offense out of rhythm..  punting the ball doesn't help the defense, nor do we have the run game to control the clock.   I'll take that back if they prove otherwise...

No huddle needs to be a slow no huddle where we still snap the ball with 1-3 seconds on the play clock with our personnel. If a team has a hall of fame QB and they lack defensive talent to be a top 5 defense go ahead and do it but that isn't the way we are built. A high paced offense would put our defense in the bottom half of the league. A defense plays a lot more snaps when a team is going high pace no huddle.

I have always been a fan of throwing a team off balance. Do it when they least expect it or just as you see the d putting their hands on their hips and bending over. Thats smart football.

Teams that audible to keep the d from getting set. If a team gets comfortable they get confident.

So when you play ball control or run little motion you increase the d's chances at an effective play and you put preasure on the O to execute to perfection.

you know... now that our defense is stout, i actually wouldnt mind a Chudzinski-like philosophy on offense. when Chud was here, our problem was defense. not offense. just imagine if we had that offense matched with our current defense?! we would be immediate SB contenders.

i suppose i dont mind the Shula-style offense as long as it keeps winning us games. but surely a team can run a ball-control offense and still be extremely dangerous with respect to the explosive plays.

No Chud please. But a lil no huddle here & there would definitely throw the D off since its not what we're known for.

And what exactly could be done given the salary cap situation.

We are capable of it, but we only do it at the end of the game. Remember all the 4th qtr comebacks last year.  Our staff doesnt want a fast game, they always want a ball control methodical offense. We will never run like cincy, indy, aints, or  eagles without a new OC.

Which will lead to a lot of close, palm sweating, final drive games, which we might as well get use too.

You could easily argue that is exactly what we did as a team last season. We also were number 3 in TOP per drive.

We played great complimentary football last year....and the result was great. We overachieved

Our D was stout in part bc of great health and the O keeping them fresh.

I do agree the explosive plays could improve

Chud helped our D be an issue. He would go for big plays and we had long droughts....D could never finish games they should of
