No. As tall as he is and as often as he runs.....when he slides defenders still have wide open shots at his head. Flag won't be worth it. The fact he is such a running threat means defenders won't ease off and know he is sliding like say Matt Ryan. They go for tackle and catch him in mid-slide

And in all honesty, the type knee he caught....could happen in a slide as he rolls over too. I chalk that up to poo happens.

Qbs can get injured driving to the stadium to.

It is a question of probability, and it is much less when sliding.

If you watch the replay, he had plenty of time before the defender was close. It's comes with his style of play. Doubt it'll change anytime based on Cam's comments this week. Listen to some of the interviews on panthers.com earlier this week.

In present day NFL, learning to slide is a no brainer.

 

All Qb's should practice it. 

 

If Cam had done almost anything different on the play, he would be fine.  Was sort of a freak play.

But this thread is about one simple thing that costs zero money against the cap that can go a long way in preventing further injury but more importantly keeping his current injuries from getting worse.

Rib injuries have been known to get worse as the hits come.

The problem is it allows defenders to legally hit him.

Wear and tear is going to start setting in on cam soon if it already hasn't. This is his 4th season.

Last year there was a segment somewhere, I forgot where I read it, that showed how sliding is more dangerous. I would rather Cam dive to protect his head.

You guys do realize that when he tucks and goes down, he isn't down yet in the eyes of the defense, right? They are completely free to target him

Slide feet first and he is off limits.
