Cam not playing Thurs, has rib injury

Just wonder if people realize the injury has been reported as a hairline(stress) fracture to a non load bearing non core location? We aren't talking about a segmented rib in the core. I'm sure he has some discomfort, but I don't see any risk to him playing at full strength week one.

Broken ribs are very painful - just normal breathing is painful.  It would be damn tough to play with any kind of aplomb under those conditions. David Newton said he was stooped over at practice and in obvious pain even though he wasnt actively participating.   We will see, but imo it would be wiser to rest him week one against TB than put him at further risk by rushing him into a game before hes ready.

It's the new Madden Curse.  Cam featured heavily in the new Madden and made the finals of the contest.  Broken rib and ankle issues.  Luke in a commercial and part of the opening of Madden.  Injured thumb.

fug Madden.

I know plenty about rib injury's I segmented my lower 3 on my LH side years ago took a full 6 weeks before I was close to healthy worked through it but was tough. I've also hairline fractured" an upper rib on the same side, was painfull for a couple of days, but nothing that would have made me inactive. The hairline fracture was uncomfortable, but nothing close to the stabbing pain caused by a segmented fracture in the core. It's all about the severity and location. Cam should be just fine to play week one, the location of the injury has little risk of any further damage, and the combination of his pain threshold, and med staff should have him GTG.

the paper asked a medical expert what he thought about Cam:

"Vernon Williams, a sports neurologist and pain management specialist at a clinic that is a world leader in the diagnosis and treatment of sports medicine injuries (Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic at Saint John's Health Center in Los Angeles), said:

“Normally you can get the pain controlled, and I wouldn’t expect him to be out for an extended period of time,” Williams said. “Now the rib might still be healing, but I would expect within a week or so he’d be ready to return with proper management.”

In addition to rest, the Panthers can treat Newton’s pain with medication, ice, analgesic creams or by injecting him with a numbing agent, Williams said."

His injury had nothing to do with the o line - more a testament to poor decision making on Cams part going into his 4 th year.

I wasn't talking about his injury. Just that the total number of hits/sacks hes taken is x2 more than the guy in 2nd.

They may have better drugs for the pain.  However, their bones heal the same speed that our heal.

Being "finely tuned athletic machine" will not make his rib heal faster.

I was making a funny with the quote from the Waterboy lol.  Who knows maybe they get stem cell treatments and their bones may heal quicker who knows lol. All I know is , that Cam will heal quickly.
