Btw it's not kb vs smith it's smith vs every other receiver

This guy gets it, KB has simply replaced Steve Smith as being the only threat on the team. How many years are we going to say we need a #2 now that we have a #1 again? Are we going to wait until KB is too old and cut him like old garbage too?

I understand you guys don't venture outside of the Panthers, but you should really pay attention to other teams. It's ok to have more than one good WR. Stop talking about the salary cap, it does not matter. You keep saying he's a damn cap wiz, but he couldn't find a way to keep Steve Smith? The truth is he didn't want to keep him, it had nothing to do with football it was all personal. Y'all better pray that he gets hurt before we play, because our secondary can't cover an angry Steve Smith. Don't forget he's not even their #1 so don't tell me Melvin White is stopping him.

Very simply he was too much of a headache for the salary/ caphit. Period.

He was told to stop yelling and getting the face of teammates(cam), he refuse the warning(panthers have been asking for years). Hes also ingored rons request to take a few days off, hence the next point old loin.

I challange if the smith would allow special k, to be the #1 WR. He has that old loin protecting his land way of thinking. He's fought for it and no rook/fa will take it, no matter what he's said about stepping aside. Hes lying, once on the field, lockerroom, and video room....it would be same old smitty.

Money, he refused a pay cut. Smitty at this stage isn't worth 7mill this year or 10 fing mill next. Period. You know there's some young talented players that will soon need new deals, and that's year after year given hitting on early draft picks.

Radio, all 32 gm coaches, front office don't want a current player talking 12 hours a week about what happens in house. Smith opened up a little too much at times, falling for the rating numbers. Anytime you start doing retirement stuff during your career, you already stared retiring.

A prime smitty that punching teammates, doesn't help young WR, cost 7 mill per, doesn't listen to boss/es, has a weekly radio segment and asks to be traded every few years............ you overlook all that. 35yr old smitty not worth the time with future problems coming.

Cam's development as a leader and taking control over this team ( which is very obvious that he's done that) is much, MUCH more important than another year with Smitty.

The end.

If you have to cut a guy for Cam to be a leader then he never will. I love Cam more than anybody on this board, but I really hope we didn't cut Steve Smith so that Cam could be the leader of this team. The Colts didn't need to cut Reggie Wayne

You won't find anything saying that he refused a paycut

You're comparing Steve's attitude to Reggie Wayne's. I know you don't honestly believe that's a good comparison so why even say it?

Fox said the Panthers have not asked Smith to restructure his contract, which Smith signed in 2012 under the impression he would finish his career with the team that drafted him in the third round in 2001.

“We did a long-term deal with (former general manager) Marty Hurney and with the Richardson family because we thought Steve was going to complete his career as a Panther,” Fox said. “Now when we find out through the media at the combine that those plans are different, that was news to us.”
