You cant just supplant existing leaders by drafting a young QB and saying "welp Cam is the leader now". Smith had to go and so did Gross.  The players were still going to follow Smith and Gross.

It's wrong in the sense that cam isn't a good leader because they needed to move smith. That's wrong. Cam obviously understand the pecking order when we came into the team. All teams pass the leadership guard it doesn't mean their new leaders suck because other guys left.

No pecking order is established when you have probowler leaders that have been on your team for the better part of a decade and rookies who respect that and don't over step their bounds. cam was smart not to do that. Notice how we have one of the better locker rooms in the league? It's because of the leadership established and now cam continuing that. Smh
