This offense will miss Steve Smith

Those reports are completely inaccurate.

My neighbor is a close friend of Gross and has him over to his house quite often. I asked him about the situation when he retires. He said that it was 100% Gross's decision and that he had Ben thinking about it for over a year.

He did not want to end up like so many retired OL....barely able to walk.

Exactly reports are just that, reports

And they're always anonymous. One of Smith friends did say something about Smith wanting to play slot, but couldn't with our current roster. I thought that was... interesting

Gross made the decision to retire before the season even began after the pay cut. The pay cut pissed him off and is what set in motion his retirement. Gross said he didn't feel like he should take a pay cut but did so anyway, and went on to make the pro bowl. Had Gettleman not pissed him off initially he had planned to play one more year.

yes in your fantasy world this is exactly what happened.

but i was replying to someone saying that DG didn't want gross. which isn't true. carry on

Your speculation is so far off target it is actually amusing.

Gross was about 95% sure he was going to retire after one more season BEFORE he took the paycut.

That is why had and DG made the move they did.

He got hurt, two big games away from 1k. Again how much of that is Shula?

Back to blaming Shula again I see.  You obviously have no concept of what age does to a man.  If they all got better with age, then Jerry Rice would still be a #1 for the Niners.

Also, Shula catches too much poo.

We go 12-4

We were 11th in yards per drive

We were 10th in points per drive

He had a weak OL, average traditional rush, and average WRs

All receiving options that weren't nearing the end of their career had career best seasons

Not bad. Not fun and sexy....but not bad.

Dude, we are gonna miss Muhsin Muhammad this season. I mean, I can't believe we let him retire. Imagine trying to cover Moose and KB. Their height and hands would be impossible to for defenses to cover. I know the guy was getting up there, but he was a great leader and so sure handed. Muhammad would have been so much better than Cotchery or Avant. Hell, I can't believe we let Keyshawn Johnson go!

... You see how stupid this sounds? Smitty is gone, he isn't coming back so these threads matter less than points on Whose Line. Drop it and stop it.

Lolzz
