I'll refresh your memory for you,

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8407553/carolina-panthers-wide-steve-smith-unhappy-quarterback-cam-newton

While he has a point, he went public with it. One thing a veteran player should realize is you don't go public about your franchise quarterback. Period.

just like our head coach and gm have done recently? Along with Jason avant......come in you know how the media works

Edit: what he said was harmless it's a vet going up to a guy giving him advice it's funny this one article will be what's remember but not the numerous times smith has praised cam you guys already know this is what espn does, stir the pot

And it caused a big media frenzy.....and later 89 had to do the standard "I should of kept it in house" routine.

Vet WRs don't go to the media and create media stories when their 2nd year QB is going through a rough patch.....not the good vet ones. It was all well documented at the time the story wasn't pulled from 89 and he sought out the media

Depends on the position he's known for getting into it with wr and cbs but not with other positions I agree not the greatest of teammates but I don't think those incidents played a role in the decision this offseason.

an old WR who is a headache.....yeah, that played into the decision to let him go.

89 has always been a headache. Once the skills go the headaches become a bigger issue.

One victim of a beat down was fellow receiver Anthony Bright who lipped off in the film room. I think Smith's bully mentality played a part in him being cut. That's all speculation, of course but when your "pain in the neck" factor out ways your performance, then it's time to go. I see it in the sales world all the time.

False along with the article, Rivera just stated cam needs to develop as a passer is that something a head coach should say? Dg stir up stuff last year when asked if cam was a franchise qb. Recently if correct there's an article about avant as well

It also states at the bottom how gross and kalil spoke with cam as well this had nothing to do with smiths comments, this was all about cams towel routine that the media blew out of proportion

Lipped off? He asked for a play to be shown again

spot on but that's where the debate begins, was he still behaving like steve smith of pass I don't think he was IMO there's proof in how smooth last season went but idk as well since I wasn't in the locker room or behind closed doors

It's just a debate we all want to see our team succeed I just grow tired of the half ass excuses made for him being cut

Nothing false about 89 creating a media headache for his QB in 2012.

As for Rivera, yes, that is something a coach would say. Notice there was not a media frenzy following it.

Did Gross and Kalil seek out the media when times got rough? Again, notice there was no media frenzy where they were forced to apologize

Just bc he hasn't assaulted someone recently away from the field of play.....doesn't mean his issues no longer exist. His explosive outbursts are only part of his reported issues he can create

Lol smith seeked out the media come on it's cool when Rivera says something controversial but not smith? And again it was more about the media circus around cams demeanor during games then it was about smith comments the situation was bigger then that, media just took that and ran with it......it's been stated on here numerous times on how the media blows everything out of proportion when referring to cam

true but there's no proof of that no fights with teammates no comments to the media about cam no head butting with cbs on the team........he was a happy camper, was giving a lot of guys props, doing his part IMO....if you can prove otherwise last year please do

Bc there was no public incident during there 12-4 season.....suddenly 89 is an ideal lockeroom guy?

Reports this offseason claim the FO viewed him as a distraction. Based on his past....that would make sense. The FO not bluntly saying that outright doesn't really mean much...
