This offense will miss Steve Smith

I don't think he was a locker room cancer, no.

You don't think Steve Smith...a guy who punched out 3 teammates, who by his own admission had guys say they could never forgive him, a guy who has been consistently reported on making it all about himself behind the scenes, a man despite being a vet causing drama in the media, etc......causes lockeroom issues?

I mean I see what you are doing. It would be like you asking me if Jimmy Clausen sucked and my response was, "no, he isn't the worst to ever attempt to play". He still sucked.

I didn't use the word cancer for 89. A lockeroom headache? Yes.

I gotta hear these off-field issues

Are you a Carolina fan? And off field in this context means lockeroom and in the football environment when he isn't catching passes. Not when he is clocked out and on his own.

Sounds like a cop out by a weak coach and weak gm.

And here's the filter all your comments pass through....12-4 stung quite a bit, didn't it?

I wouldn't be surprised if you are hoping that moving on from Smitty is going be a nail in Gettleman's coffin almost more than you'd like to see it as a positive move by season's end..

Maybe being a supporter of the new GM and short tenured coach is "towing the company line" to you, but I'd be willing to bet each guy's approval rating among fans is comparatively better than most teams right now. I know I'm ok with the direction this team is moving, all aspects considered.

First question is irrelevant, I just want to hear these problems from reliable sources yeah he rubbed cbs wrong but the rest I don't see happening the way it's been stated(yelling at cam, disobeying Rivera, not wanting to move to slot ect)

I paid my season ticket invoice and I'll be at every home game, why the hell would I want this team to fail. My whole argument is that us being a better team with Steve Smith on it and that we will miss a lot of what he brought to this offense. It was very clear we missed him when he went down last year, and I personally think we are worst at WR outside of KB. But that's a large load for a rookie.

Guise, I need to here more about how much money you manage or how many people you are above within your respective job positions before I can make a decision about Steve Smith within this thread.

I'm just not sure who to trust on here, I need to hear more credentials before I can decide who is the most qualified and then I will blindly support you within this beaten to death argument.

Let the best man win!

My job isn't great nor prestigious and I hate it, but it does require a lot of work and responsibility. Especially for a college student. So others would definitely beat me in that regard

I still hate that he left but it's something we just have to deal with.

Smith would have been a perfect compliment to KB, combined with Olsen and B. Williams we would have a hell of a group there for Cam. Even though Cotchery and Avant are decent I guess they are not close to the level of Smith, even out of his prime.

Smith is more of a technician than he is raw talent now and that would be nice to have when they start doubling KB and he starts having a rough go at it.

Beat up teammate WR Gary

Beat up teammate WR Bright

Beat up teammate CB Lucas

Name one other player in NFL history with 3 whoppings that didn't go down on the field with teammates? Heck, name one with 2.

Dude has legit anger issues....big time. That has been verified with his assaults, boneheaded plays on the field (often twisted by fans as him being a BA), and even him bluntly

89 himself even has stated part of the lockeroom would never forgive him for his poo

All the long time beat writers have commented on his in house attitude issues, wanting to be the focus and just being a pain. They also have covered the fact he doesn't work well others often.

Heck, going got tough in 2012 and he ran to the media making life on his 2nd year QB rough....that isn't what you look for in 10 yr vets.

If you don't think 89 presented issues in the lockeroom after following his career I won't be able to convince you

For years? Eh that's a stretch. Since his mediocre season last year yeah

Smith has needed help since Moose went to Chicago.

Smith would have retired the year we got Cam, if we hadn't gotten Cam.

You can spin things with your rose colored glasses, but the offense has needed to evolve for years. Holding onto a fan favorite does the team no good when change is needed.

I have heard from reliable sources, events, issues, problems that would flat out change your opinion of 89 forever.

I still love Steve Smith, but I have moved on. The Panthers have to, more out of need.

Someday you will to.
