This offense will miss Steve Smith

Not reading this whole thread, but will point out that many of the reactionaries here who claim to be over this will in all likelihood be ready to practically crucify Gettleman if we end up with a losing record, and a bottom ranked offense again. That is the huddle, we all know it.

The bottom ranked offense is such a played out soapbox....

If team A scores 6 TDs with 480 yards on 6 possessions

And team B scores 7 TDs with 660 yards on 9 possessions

Team B is statistically better by the default NFL measure of how good an offense is....when team A technically was the best O.

I said it offseason

Smith > Avant

Cotchery > Lafell

Ginn > Underwood

poo, Lafell might be > Cotchery lol

And idk why people keep looking at it like KB is Smith replacement. Could have had them both. Its sad how Smith after all those years had no help and we got rid of him and brought in somebody else. But I guess it is what it is, unfair business

What infuriated me is after that Gettle told Hakeem the Colts would be a better fit

KB and Nicks on the outside and Smitty in the slot, could have very well been our WRs this year.

Since he's been cut though, I've considered the purely business aspects of it too though. Steve is undoubtedly the most popular all-time Panthers player. I just didn't think it was at all wise to cut him, especially since we'd half to pay part of his contract this season regardless.

It was a move IMO mostly concerned with moving our offense and team forward.....this would never be Cam's team until 89 was gone. Luke and Cam would never own the lockeroom with 89 still present doing his tired routine

Look at it however you wish. We'll be towards the bottom in yards, TDs, efficiency, etc. Almost guaranteed, and I hope I'm absolutely proven very wrong.

But then again, I absolutely agree with this. Cam needed the team by the reigns without the hindrance of Steve.

That was my point, we were one of the most efficient in the NFL.....about 10-11ish. That is all that matters.
