This offense will miss Steve Smith

Making the playoffs isn't a measuring stick for him this year....sorry to break that to you. You really have no ability to see the big picture and understand that this is a process.

Lol this is a process? And you aren't a company man? Cut it out lol. This team is built to win now, before you have to pay all of your young stars. That's today's NFL.

Who says we aren't trying to win right now, it's all about the future, after going 12-4 and winning the division. That's crazy

For all the poo AceBoogie has been getting lately, I will say that I wholly agree with OP. Steve is undoubtedly better and was a bad cut for the time being.

89 only makes sense on an established O at this point in his career

His history here only amplifies the problem he presents

More than just is he better than Avant or Cotchery as a pure WR

We overachieved last year....

Nothing about our OL says we are built to win now playing in the NFC IMO

Getting out of this salary cap mess, the RB contract, Smitty's contract, and building around our young core is certainly a process that doesn't occur in one season. This team had glaring weaknesses that all can't be corrected in two offseasons. We are always trying to win now, but we are no longer willing to mortgage the future to do it. I know you're still in college and don't have any real world experiences so it's tough for this to mean anything to you.

Not reading this whole thread, but will point out that many of the reactionaries here who claim to be over this will in all likelihood be ready to practically crucify Gettleman if we end up with a losing record, and a bottom ranked offense again. That is the huddle, we all know it.

Real world experience? I manage a store that does over 2 million in sales every year, while commuting back and forth to school.

Since he's been cut though, I've considered the purely business aspects of it too though. Steve is undoubtedly the most popular all-time Panthers player. I just didn't think it was at all wise to cut him, especially since we'd half to pay part of his contract this season regardless.
