I contended Deangelo is the 3rd best RB on the team

Dwill is #1 or #2. We do this silly argument every year and DWill finds a way to end up with better stats.

Having said that I would kind of prefer that somebody gets 20+ carries a game. Don't really care who it is.

Stewart being injured is the only reason he has better stats of late....

Stewart being injured is the only reason he has better stats of late....

In the 6 years Stew and DWill have been together:

Stew has averaged 5 plus yards per carry 2 times.

Dwill has averaged 5 plus yards per carry 3 times.

Stewart has averaged just 3.7 yards per carry the last 2 years.

DWill has never averaged less than 4 plus yards per carry.

Tolbert by the way in 2 years in Carolina averages 3.5 yards per carry.

Big picture all thing being equal.

the big picture is, in the 6 years double trouble has been in the league:

williams has a 4.8 ypc average.

stewart has a 4.6 ypc  average.

there's not much of an overall difference between the 2.

the real difference is how they achieve those yards. stewart is the more consistent runner, while williams is more of a big play threat.

All true.

But in the last 2 years DWill has almost 400 rushing attempts.

The only thing Stew has done consistently is ride a bike.

Interesting stat number 2, DWill averages more yards per catch.

And in a ball control O....the consistent runner is the better runner

Im placing this post here because I can't start a post and I feel it should be said.

With that being said, as I review  the games, the O-line is not consistent. You can bring AP, Jamal Charles, or whoever you want but it won't matter if you can't open holes for the runner to run through. D-Will may not be better than Stewart but he is way better than Tolbert. More importantly Greg Olsen is a huge liability at blocking. If anyone review's game from last night and watch Greg Olsen without the ball you might throw up. I think he is a great pass catching tight end but he is a huge liability in blocking. On toss sweep to Dwill he got punked and pushed into williams. He gave up sack during first series of the game and the list goes on.

This! Dlo, has a high average of no gaines/loss of yards too 2 yard carries. He'll have a big play here and there.

To be a consistent runner you have to consistently see the field.

Williams had a stretch in his career too when he didn't suit up.....it happens. Since Double Trouble formed they overall have suited up about the same. Stewart's is just the freshest in people's minds

Yes, he is our best RB.

Stew is never really healthy

Tolbert is a short yardage back, doesn't have the wind or ability to carry the ball enough to be a a feature RB

Really Cam Newton is probably our best RB

I personally disagree about Tolbert.  He won't be a guy to break a game open, but he definitely is a decent enough runner to break a 15-20 yard gain here or there.  His hands are above average for a guy his size, and his running ability lends itself to a guy to tote the load because he can make his own holes, and by the 4th quarter, he would wear down a defense and have them not wanting to tackle him.  Until given a chance I will continually feel that he is the most under utilized player on the team.
