I contended Deangelo is the 3rd best RB on the team

Who is first, second, or third... does it really matter?

I mean as an every down back, I'm not sure who is best.  J Stew isn't dependable enough. I love him, I hope he stays healthy, but there's that question mark.

Tolbert doesn't have the "take it to the house" burst.  Personally, I'd think that'd be a requirement for an every down back.

How many teams in the NFL have a dominant every down back these days anyway?

As others have mentioned, the key is how they are used.

I have no problem with stew starting, but the carries should be split, who gets the starting job is irrelevant as long as both are use correctly

Every year it's the same ppl bitching about d lo getting stuffed but will acknowledge in another thread how bad the o line is.......props to the guys who actually see that

Fred Jackson has had 1000 yards once in his career, when he was 26-27. He ran for less than 900 yards last season. DWill had a seriously down year last year with two Pro Bowlers on the offensive line (one of the very few NFL teams to have 2 Pro Bowlers out of the 5 on the offensive line).

Fozzy just hasn't had a chance to shine in a game, thus the reason he runs the way he does, with an attitude.

And it's not Fozzy versus DWill, like you're trying to make it out. It's a young, hungry RB versus an old (by NFL standards) beat-up RB. I'd take the young, fresh one any day of the week.

Stats don't tell the whole story. Fred was splitting with CJ Spiller and still managed about 900 yards and 9 touchdowns. Jordan Gross was not prevalent in the run game last year. We had one elite interior lineman in Kalil and the other two were crap be it Scott or Chandler or whoever was in at any given time. DeAngelo had huge long screen passes for TDs and big runs that contributed to wins like against the Niners and Saints. He still had it last year and still does this year. Way better than Fozzy.

Fozzy had a chance in Cleveland and made absolutely nothing of it. You clearly don't know much about his history.

It actually is Fozzy vs. DeAngelo. People here are saying Fozzy should get more playing time than him and are saying he is better, which is just wrong. If we had to choose who to keep for the next five years, then it'd be young vs old. But that's not the case. It's who will be the best and most productive THIS year. And that is hands down DeAngelo, no discussion.

Because this isn't 2008

No one is saying DWill is still DWill of old. CRA brings that up to downplay his abilities.

Most of us are just tired of hearing how bad he is when he had a pretty good year last year. Almost 1200 yards is still a pretty good year.

I also get really tired of hearing how DWill goes down too easily. He has always been able to run through arm tackles, and hits. You have to tackle him, and it has always been that way.

I love Stewy. I just happen to believe if we called plays that take advantage of their talents, both could still be very effective.
