Is Rivera above...

i can see ron doing it.

he's expressed his dissatisfaction with the overall lack of intensity during ota/practice on several occasions.

hang'em out to dry one good time to get them focused isn't a bad thing.

There's not a team out there that has the same level of intensity in TC now vs several years back due to the CBA.

Fox's TC were definitely more intense but the Panthers still only won their opening game under him in 2003, 2007, & 2008.

I think Rivera will have them ready for TB. This is very much a revenge game for him after getting canned by Lovie

No, he wouldn't.

I've been saying since training camp day 1 just how many "completed passes“ people were excited about were sacks in reality. Tremendous improvement needs to happen in the passing game, and quickly. Line, QB, receivers, everyone.

We are using the preseason for what its intended. We've mixed and matched guys all over the field. Pats would've put points up on pretty much any team in the league that didn't game plan for the game.

Score is meaningless in preseason. I don't think we intended to get waxed but I also don't think winning was very important either. The disappointment isn't from the score its more likely from not seeing guys capitalize on their opportunities to earn playing time.

As for Cam and the offense they obviously need a bit more time. With our defense they don't have to be the leagues #1 offense week one. I just want to continue to see progress. Benjamin continues to look great. The more success he has the more the offense will develop its identity.

I don't necessarily think my friend is rationalizing, but we disagree on this.

I wanted to see what others would say. Right now sounds like more people agree with him than me.

Then I would ask your friend (and others who agree with him/her)  to impress and mention how beneficial it would be to lead your team into a preseason butt-kicking before said butt-kicking takes place.

hence my allergic reaction.

See, I think he would.

But with that said, my read on last night - and the situation in general - is pretty much the same as yours.

Getting a head full of confidence trumps a defeat and a head full of doubt for a team looking for an identity. I don't think Rivera would ever set his men up to fail intentionally.

I really think you guys are overreacting to a preseason game. I think Ron realizes his players were outmatched schematically. I'd like to think Ron would never ask AJ Klein to cover Shane Vereen 1 on 1 in the regular season. At times I think we ran plays that were more about evaluating players than moving the chains.
