•Left tackle Byron Bell actually had a teammate take the blame for one of the two sacks he surrendered to defensive end Chandler Jones. On the first one, Bell was doing a nice job until running back DeAngelo Williams threw a chip block that freed Jones to get inside for the sack. As the game went on, Bell got into a rhythm and did a nice job. "I felt like I learned a lesson today," Bell said. "I can’t come out slow, I’ve got to come out fast, come out on fire. We’ve got to come out fast and come out swinging early. I feel like if we do that we’ll be fine." Bell said Williams apologized on the sideline afterwards.

I really wish the team, including coaches, would stop coddling Bell so much. He is a backup on just about every other team in the league.

 

but he's not on every other team. he's on this team...if positive motivation is what's helped him progress this far, then positive motivation is what's going to help him get to the next level.

 

the better he is, the better the team is.

Exactly. Why he gets so many opportunities and slaps on the wrist is beyond man, and we got other guys with actually talent screwing up one play and benched for the rest of games and seasons.

I am watching the game on my computer and just came across DWill chipping Jones. It doesn't even look like he made solid contact. Jones actually gets the first punch on Bell - Bell can only make contact on the outside of Jone's pads which gave him no leverage - Jones has full momentum, does a swim move and barreled towards the inside for the sack.

 

I'm not a Bell hater, but in this case DWill had nothing to do it

I saw the same play live and didn't understand it. Bell is favoring the outside rush and Deangelo is helping on the outside shoulder. Either Deangelo needed to come inside or Bell needed to. It was one of those plays that just looked like a total lack of communication.

It was a well run rush by Patriots, they did it twice. Ninkovich beats Gary Williams outside and Chandler beats Bell inside. Chandler makes the play so Bell takes the blame. Getting beat by Ninkovich is a bigger sin in my opinion. You did see Matsko coach up Bell and I don't think Chandler Jones was successful with that move the rest of the game. He did disrupt the pocket but did not make a play later on.

Vince Wilfork was working over our interior as well. You have to wonder if the coaches felt like Turner did not need that in his life.

It was a little concerning to see Bell beaten like that but I feel like it's coachable. Chandler Jones was clearly the superior athlete which is not coachable.

The problem is, it's his 4th year, he shouldn't just now be learning that he can't come out slow. He's just consistently inconsistent and probably always will be. He'll have good games and then he'll have terrible games and he'll go "oh yeah, I can't take days off in the NFL. That's been his first few years and he still has to have bad games to re-focus him.

There are a lot of o-linemen who can have good games, what separates the quality from the chaff is consistency.

      The coach- Canales was a rookie hc and at times looked like it. But he did manage to revamp the offense, helped Bryce not look like the biggest bust of the draft, exuded positivity,  and made the panthers watchable again. We have a viable head coach for the first time since rivera The gm- Morgan had some hits and some big misses. Hits- the ol, Coker,demani, dj at first. Misses- almost every d player signed, brooks, the jury is out on x. I get what he was trying to do with brooks/Hubbard but it blew up in his face. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes. But he did trade mingo for a 4th, managed to get a 2nd rounder this year from the Rams and I am a fan of constantly churning the bottom of the roster The draft- x can be a solid player but not until he catches the ball, brooks was a high risk pick that didn't work out, Wallace, demani and Chau Smith can be solid contributors and showed glimpses, Coker and jt should be mainstays. And flipping a 7th round lb that was about to be cut for Jackson was a great move.  The offense- had its ups and downs but Bryce has turned from one of the biggest busts in nfl history to a potential franchise qb, that change is worth its weight in gold, thielen was crafty and underrated as usual, Coker was a gem, jt was the solid but has some growing to do, and Hubbard has been awesome, the o line was much improved as well The defense- well...they set records, injuries, poor coaching (imo), bad playcalling and just plain sucking this defense needs everything to change, we need horn and Jackson back and we get brown back but we need bodies and an identity. If they can do with the def what they did with the o then we can challenge for the division bc we already have some pieces there.  Overall- this was a growth year full of questions and some of the major ones were answered(qb, coach). For the first time in a long time the season didn't end depressingly and I do have cautious optimism for next year. But they need to learn from the mistakes of 2024 and if they do I like where this team is headed. On to the draft and 2025

      I disagree. It’s not hard to double a WR and still play the run. It’s called a bracket which you can use with a drop down safety or an OLB. Look up how it’s done. Also in obvious passing situations, doubling a wr is not hard. Falcons torched us in obvious passing situations time after time. 2 min drill, 3rd and long to where there’s no excuse to not focus more on Drake London. Mooney was out. London was the only WR Penix was looking at.  Evero simply can’t make adjustments. He’ll most likely be fired next year. Wish we would’ve just ripped the bandaid off this year. To call all people morons who think we can do better than Evero is a very ignorant and arrogant statement. Who the hell are you?

      As a rookie head coach, I think he exceeded expectations.  We looked competitive in almost all our games.  I don't think he's hit his ceiling.  7 of 10 for this year.
