Scott Fowler blog : His take from the press box

I swear there is just no hope for some of our fans. It seemed pretty obvious that he was intentionally staying in the pocket to work on passing.

Which is pretty dumb to me.

This preseason shouldn't be for Cam to work on his passing.

It should be for Cam to work on his GAME.

Taking off and getting yardage with his legs is part of his game.

It's preseason. Do you think Cam is just going to forget how to run or something?

No just no. No preseason cam runs

So... this begs the question as to which you'd prefer:

1. Cam being a stationary target and getting sacked 3 times in the first quarter?

2. Cam running and becoming a moving target for someone likely smaller than he?

i will worry if we look like poo game 1.

right now i look at specific players who are stepping up and those that aren't.

Cam is gonna be fine. He's tentative BECAUSE it's preseason. Wait till the real stuff starts he will go all out. He would have ran for over 100 yards last night his running lanes were so fuging open.

How about option 3

3. Cam throwing the ball away when no one is open as opposed to scrambling.

I wonder when he will learn to do that again.  He seemed to be grasping the concept last season but now he seems to have ( dare I say it ) regressed.

Isn't the entire point of preseason for a QB to actually get reps, and not spend half their time throwing the ball away?

We've got too many trolls here.

Scott Fowler is always a good read and he knows this team well. His five things that stood out for him.He said that he could have more then five but, decided not to pile on I guess.

1. Zero pass rush,Brady never saw the ground...backups did not get the job done.

2.No running game at all. Dwill and Stewart combined 20 yards,63 yards team total.

3. Cam's back. If this turns into a nagging injury along with the ankle, could be an issue.Says Cam was hurting and went right to the team bus and didn't stop for media at all (never does that). This is disturbing.

4. Defensive backs burned by Edelman all night. Quite troubling.

5.Offense in general. Oline was very bad and WR Corp absent except for one rookie.

So there you go.Yes we are all upset and rightfully so. Team not close to firing on all cylinders and the season creeps ever closer.Fowler didn't pull any punches.

Defense is a team game.  Our pass rush made our "off the pile" DB's rich free agents last year.  Likewise our lack of pass rush can make our new "off the pile" guys look like garbage.

Credit needs to be given to Pats o-line, consistently a great unit, but I saw more than one DB look back at the LOS after a big play for the enemy wondering why he wasn't getting help from the front guys.

Not a viable nor realistic option since it's never been a learned behavior nor part of his play.

It's both viable and realistic because it's preseason. The perfect time to do something your not use to is now. Your talking like it's the 3 game of the regular season but it's not.

And I thought the preseason was for practicing and being able to go into the regular season healthy. Not all beat to hell because you were busy trying to develop chemistry.   But what the hell do I know.
