Interesting Point of View from Opponent

I thought Reznor covered a Johnny Cash song...or is it the other way around? Too lazy to look.

Nine Inch Nails did the original. Cash's cover gained a lot more attention. They're both really good actually, but have very different feels.

Trent wrote the song. I only reply and correct because that is my absolute favorite song of all time, from first hearing it on the downward spiral release in 94', and I see several people always giving Cash credit for it. I think Cash recorded this right  before he died almost ten years after its release in 94'.

That said, usually not liking remakes especially with my favorite song of all time, I don't mind Cash singing it. I like him and think it suites his life well. Which version do I like more? Trent's, but only because I prefer the original author. Cash did not do much different with the song which made me like his version as well. One thing I did not like is that Cash changed 'crown of sh!t' into 'crown of thorns'. Seemed kind of a bland replacement to me, and if you're going to remake someone else's very personal song I don't think any lyric should change.

Anyways all this off topic but I'm bored, NIN/Trent was just here in Charlotte with Soundgarden on the 7th of August and they closed with Hurt and it was amazing.

I agree 100% crown of poo applies more to the song and it's original meaning. I don't think Cash's version was as relatable to Reznor's version which was probably more of a song about heroin.
