Interesting Point of View from Opponent

I thought that this was pretty interesting. When asked if this win for them was a confidence builder, Brady replied

“Well, we could have lost 30-7 and none of it’s going to matter two weeks from now.”

Then. there was a similar question asked to Belichick. He replied with

“No. No, there’s no game planning, there’s no formationing or game planning plays and situations and those type of things. That’s not really what this game is about. I don’t think that’s what it was about for them. It’s not what it was about for us. I think if that’s the way you want to judge it, I think you’re making a big mistake. I think it’s a game about fundamentals. It’s about basic football and it’s not anything close to a regular-season game in terms of game planning and situational football and doing strategically the things that you would do … We have 90 guys out there, we can’t game plan for 90 guys. We can barely get it right when we have 46. It’s just not what this game is. That’s not what we’re trying to get out of it and I don’t think that’s what Carolina is trying to get out of it … I’m sure they weren’t running all the plays they had either, so I wouldn’t make too much of it.”

So mostly everybody (inlcuding myself) should take a step back and relax.

Here's the thing. Intellectually I understand just how pointless preseason final outcomes are in actually evaluating teams, but watching my team get destroyed just hurts man. It just hurts. I walked out of that stadium feeling like Johnny Cash...

I hate to admit that Belichick is right but he is.  River really can’t say this because it would make him look complacent.  Rivera doesn’t get enough credit for doing well with the media.  The only thing to take away from this game was that Brady can identify mismatches in pre-snap and exploit them.  If you didn’t know Brady could do that then you have not been watching football the last 15ish years.  Also footballs still bounce off of Brandon LaFail!  LOL that was the best part of the game…

I don't care about the score, but I care about matchups.  Bell was terrible all game.  He once got bull rushed into the heart of the pocket.  When he goes against a speed rusher, he decides to drop back into the pocket to block the rusher.  Sure, it takes away the guess work and he manages to latch on, but it makes him susceptible to the bull rush.

Cam was holding onto the ball too long again.  Who dives head first into the defender in a preseason game?  That was stupid.  He needs to make wiser decisions.

About our Safeties.  Where was DeCoud?  He hates contact.  Lester, Russell, and Jones were not good.

About our CBs.  Dockery, son, that is 2 weeks of sucking while trying to make the roster.  Thomas?  Same comment for you.  Enjoy free agency.

Norman was better.  Godfrey cannot get off a block and really doesn't do much when he does.  Bene Benwikere is looking better. Cason sucked.  White is always decent to good.

Cotchery and Avant are not doing much.  Bersin has been the second most effective WR, followed by King.  I like Brown.  I like the young core developing, but we need more from the vets.

"I think it’s a game about fundamentals."

If that's true then the Panther's have a lot of work ot do.

exactly..  just because it's a preseason game doesn't mean the negative game play we saw just gets flushed...  you can't talk about how Rivera starts out of the gate slow every year (and the panthers for that matter) and completely disregard certain aspects of preseason..  game planning or not.  preseason or not.

but I hope like hell it all comes together game 1...  and we don't start slow out of the gate because preseason apparently tells you nothing.

Every year these "perspective" posts are a million times more numerous and annoying and drawn out over the course of the next week than the reactionary posts.

the only person it looks like people are trying to convince is themselves.
