Says who?  Re-read the contract details.  If you are talking about this year, maybe.  But it locked us into much more money down the road.  You have to look at the future too.  How much is a 37-year old short WR worth to you?

 

Everyone needs to quit assuming that Smitty was the answer.  745 yards and 4 TDs.   That is what we lost, and at 35, did you expect improvement?

 

But you are right, it was about more than money.  Part of it was getting rid of a prick who was toxic in the locker room.  Before you defend his locker room presence, think about your proof.  I have 2 sucker punches and a total lack of concern for other players' development to defend my position.  Bashing teammates in the press.  Stating that he was playing for personal stats.
