Eli Manning looking like poo again

Eli seems to be a guy who is only as good as the team around him.  Can't really make the rest of them seem better, but is good enough to win with a good supporting cast and perhaps the right system

 

That statement pretty much applies to quite a bit of the QBs out there. Very few of them are adaptable.

IIRC I think that Eli has lead the league in INT's since his rookie year.

 

 

That said, there is a whole lot of turnover in the league at that position.

 

Never thought that he was a great, just a good QB, and if you put the weight squarely on his shoulders it wouldn't end well.

Eli Manning is struggling to pick up offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's new system. In theory, it made sense to change things up after a decade of Kevin Gilbride.

Note that Ben McAdoo (age 37) was Packers TE coach 2006-2011 and Packers QB coach (2012-2013), he didn't play college football and has never been an offensive coordinator

Kelvin Gilbride (who played QB in college) was the QB coach then OC for Warren Moon and the high-flying Houston Oilers from 1989-1994:

Gilbride was Eli's QB coach during Eli's first three years in the NFL: 2004-2006, during which Eli's QB rating was 55.4, 75.9, 77.0. But then Gilbride became OC and Eli took it a step up in his offense: QB rating of 73.9 the first year (Eli's first Super Bowl MVP year) but then 86.4, 93.1, 85.3, 92.9, 87.2 (including three Pro Bowls and three straight 4,000-yd seasons) before the 69.4 disaster last season. Other than a great running game, Eli didn't have any great weapons in 2008 (Eli Pro Bowl), 2009 (Eli 4,000 yd season) or 2010 (Eli 4,000 yd season)...

After general manager Jerry Reese abstained from extending Manning's contract during the spring, the 2015 season will represent the sixth and final year of a $97.5 million deal for the Giants quarterback. If Manning doesn't adapt to the new offense and rebound from last year's 27-interception season, it's not crazy to believe that the Giants will look for a replacement.

As it stands now, cutting Manning after the 2014 season would only result in $2.25 million of dead money on next year's salary cap.

Eli finished the preseason 20-of-41 (48.8%) for 188 yards and one touchdown across the five games. He threw two interceptions that were wiped out by penalties and had three fumbles (one lost, two recovered by teammates)

I agree. Pre-Season doesn't mean much. But, Eli is good when it counts? More like: Sometimes Eli has a good game when it coincidentally counts. That's one of the most erratically good/great/meh/horrible QBs of all time.

He didn't get hurt. It was some spinal disease. And yes he's probably the most successful working in energy

3rd Qtr and Eli has already thrown 2 INTs. So far he is 11 of 23 (47.8%) and only averaging 3.0 yards per attempt, 32.9 rating
