AT&T Uverse

Obviously not in Charlotte but did switch to Uverse from Cox Communications. The biggest reason is I only watch HD, and all the premium channels were all HD in Uverse as opposed to cox that had them all in SD, but only like 1/4 of premium in HD. For instance, HBO has like 11 channels, and cox only had 4 in HD, so I was paying for a bunch of channels i never watched. Check the HD list for TWC and make sure they don't do same so that you're comparing apples to apples. I have 110" screen, so I can see the difference in resolution, but the smaller tvs aren't as obvious.

Making up for the size of something else? Also what kind of shitty services doesn't have all hbo channels in hd? I don't even know if I have any channels from directv that aren't hd

Add to that, Uverse is like $50 a month cheaper.

My TV is 4k projection so it wasn't huge money. I decided to build my den like a home theater when I built my house as opposed to making a separate room. Great for video games.

On the subject of providers. I'm sitting here waiting for directv to show of with wireless genie stuff. Does anyone have it? Any problems with the bridge?

I have the wifi Uverse box in study and it works just like a wired both, no lag or anything. The router that comes from ATT already has wifi so I don't use a separate router, but it only has 4 wired ports and bridge uses one so keep that in mind if you use a lot of wired connections,

Directv doesn't run theirs off wifi it's picking up signal from the dish. I custom built a tv mount and some shelving in my living room to hang my tv in the stupid cubby built for tube tvs. After everything was done I realized the coax jack in the cubby doesn't work. So I have the Damn coax cable running down my wall. Only reason I want the genie

Another option you could consider is wireless HDMI. DVDO makes a great one as well as Geffen. You would need a simple IR to RF extender, but you could put the box almost right where the signal comes in from outside if you don't have a ton of walls for it to go through. I built my house recently so I ran a cable that has 2 RG6 wires and 2 Cat6 wires to each location, so I lucked out when I switched to ATT.

Wow I'm going to ask Alice a legit question I can't believe it. So the wireless genies are installed and not actually wireless at all. Just don't need coax cable, so that's disappointing. However been looking at surround sound now. I found what seems to be a good deal on a samsung Ht-e6500 with wireless rear speakers set. I would be buying it more for aesthetics than function. However if the sub is behind the tv in the cubby with the sound bar under the tv and the left and right front speakers directly under that are they all going to be too close together? Anyone else that would know is free to answer as well. Ill pm a picture of the current tv set up if it will help.

I have 50 mps coming into the house but rarely ever see that. I saw Century Link running lines so maybe they're bringing their gigabit access here

Ok now I'm thinking of getting a wireless sound bar. Samsung preferably to match the tv. Any thoughts

Sound bar is an upgrade over standard tv speakers.

When my apartment flooded the ceiling fell on my TV and vizio sound bar. A year later they're both working

AT&T Uverse offers access to their hotspot network. Has anyone tried accessing them. If so, what was your experience?

Idk, I have Verizon.

I can't find that model even on samsungs website, are you sure it's a good number? I personally haven't used a combined system like this but was considering getting one for my bedroom and did look into it a little. The website I use for anything AV related is AVS forums and they have all the info you could want on anything AV. Heck, I even learned how to install and wire my home automation system from reading there for a few months before construction. Anyway, they actually do have a soundbar section and it seems a real popular one is the Vizio 5.1 system that just came out recently:

As for subwoofer, remember low frequencies vibrate, so although you should get good sound in that cubby hole behind TV, it could vibrate your tv so you would hear a rattling sound. If that happens, bass is no directional so you can put it almost anywhere in room, preferably a corner.

    • The SEC were not having GT upset Georgia at home. Horrendously corrupt officiating in this game - the non-PI on 4th down and the non-targeting call on the King fumble. Good lord.
    • I like how they were about to punt the ball right before the two minute warning before being like... oh fug, this'll be too obvious we gotta try a FG then ole boy skulls one that never got more than about 12 feet off the ground. LOL!
