Cheap flights to Florida

So here I sit at the concord airport trying to get to Florida and the Allegiant plane had to land in Greensboro first because it was going to run out of gas. Fug Allegiant!

 

This is the problem with Allegiant.  Flying out of secondary airports and at their mercy.  If they cancel or are delayed you have no other airline for backup.  Also paying for extra once on the plane.  I put Allegiant and Spirit down as the last airlines I would fly if I have a option.

I'd rather take Amtrak for the same price.

That was my worry while the flight was delayed. If it didn't show up at all, then I would be screwed. One of the TSA ladies said that was the first time they had a delay like that. Guess they had a lot of low clouds and lots of air traffic around Charlotte and had to circle a couple times and which caused them to have to go to Greensboro to fuel up and try again. That's what they claim anyway. 

 

All in all though, a couple of hours delay was no big deal and the flight back was flawless.  I didn't pay for anything while on the plane and a checked bagged cost $20. Hell, I saved that because the parking at the airport is free. The convenience of flying out of Concord is great.

 

All in all my girl and I flew down to Clearwater and back for $150 each after taxes and all fees. Saved us at least $400 overall which basically paid for all 3 nights of our room. I'd do it again in a heartbeat but that's just me.

I used Allegiant plenty of times flying out to Vegas when I lived in Arkansas. For about 150 dollars you just cant beat that , the savings almost pay for your hotel room in the difference, but if you got free rooms you cant beat getting out there for that cheap for a good weekend. Hopefully they add flights to Vegas soon out of Concord cause flights are in the 400's and 150 would be a good savings for those of us who just want to get there.
