What do you guys make of the Cam haters still out there today?

In a few years Manning, Brady and Brees are all gonna be retired.

Luck will have thrown 50 more interceptions in playoff games.

RG3 will have blown out his knee about a dozen more times.

Russel Wilson will be playing baseball.

Kaepernick will be... nevermind, nobody thinks he's good anyway.

Cams already a top 10 QB, won't be long before he's knocking on #1.

If you give them relevance, or significance, you're doing something wrong.

To be fair, I don't think Cam does. He acknowledged a valid criticism, & has shown he works on it.

There is only so much stupid people can take though.

So basically u're saying the media controls the mindset of today's football fan. They do nothing more than regurgitate what the media spews and the media makes them feel like they too know what they are talking about by repeating their own talking points..

They influence a group of fans that are more casual with following the sport. Many attention seeking individuals in the media, yes, not all. Like I said there are a lot of quality media sources out there but its gotten very hard to find them for casual fans. Its easy to get lost in all the information we have access to nowadays. So most casual fans only hear surface stuff. . like "Hardy arrested for domestic abuse"  or "Cam needs maturation, he has a bad attitude". The quality stuff gets buried in mounds and casual fans want there info where they have everything else.

Theyre going to the Walmart of websites of their choosing to get this info, yahoo, nbc, usatoday, espn. . . Theyre not going to the Football Gameplan to see what's on the menu over at the Czar's. . . thats my point, you follow?

The haters have taken over where the media has left off.

Remember Cam resides where there is still a ton of animosity towards him because he helped one of the biggest rival teams in the South win a Championship. To see even Panther fans hating on Cam or quick to dismiss his accomplishments but is always ready with a criticism, says to me, some folks will only pretend to like him when he helps the team win. Some will go as far as dismiss whatever he's done and give credit to every player but him.

IMO, the Panthers has some serious fair weathered fans.

To be honest plenty of team fans turn on their QB for poor play. But I do agree with you although Cam is a special case.

Mac is now actively trying to recruit people from 10 other fan bases to call in to talk about their team. WFNZ is a Charlotte station yet spends time promoting bars that support opposing teams through their "Home Team Headquarters" program and employs radio hosts that promote talk about teams outside of Charlotte. Pretty fuged up

Speaking of that guy, didn't he make some kind of guarantee that Cam wouldn't be in the league 3 years from then meanwhile The Golden Calf of Bristol would be on his way to multiple Super Bowls?  Said if it didn't happen then he would show up to the Bucs home game in his underwear with a Cam Newton jersey and a sign that says 'Carolina rules, Tampa Bay sucks' or something like that.

Well... it's been 3 years.

he said he would stand in his undies in the parking lot at rayjay with a sign saying carolina rules over tampa bay and auburn is better than florida if cam is still our starting quarterback in 2016

so we're well on our way

edit:

i'm just going to let the crayon eater speak for himself and paste his own words:

Cam Newton is a sure-fire bust. I am so certain of this that if he is the Panthers' starting quarterback in 2016, I will buy a Cam Newton jersey and stand in the stadium parking lot in my underwear when the Panthers come to Tampa Bay and hold a sign proclaiming that Auburn rules over Florida and Carolina rules over Tampa Bay.

This guy will be long gone by then. Here are just a few of the reasons why I believe he will make Ryan Leaf only the second-biggest draft bust in history.

oh yeah and the media is biased against poor teboner for good measure:

So how is it we go from "Tеbow sucks" to "Cam is awesome" in one year? When these two guys played on the same team for two years, Cam was the one riding the bench while Tеbow was breaking records and winning championships. So how is it that the treatment of Cam by the "draft people" is 180 degrees different than Tеbow's? I don't know.

Let's ask Denver Broncos fans if they would like to trade Tеbow for Newton straight up. They would laugh in your face. Football fans know even if the experts have no clue. We can spot a fraud when we see one.

In five years, when Tеbow is leading Denver into the playoffs and Cam Newton is riding someone's bench, remember this article.

They want nothing more than verbal combat. WFNZ is just a group of dumb attention seeking people fighting with other dumb people. Theyre biggest loss that hurt them the most was the Bustin Loose with Frank and WOOPS! no Moose debacle. Moose wouldve brought  a lot of credibility which they thought they had with Frank. . who we came to find out admitted blatantly that he looooves stirring poo up for no reason for attention and lost what credibility he had left. If a radio show host says something like that, how can you possible take anything else he says seriously? lol, moron.

Whats funny about that is its obvious why Moose didnt join WFNZ every time he calls in. He disarms every one of Frank attempts to stir up poo like he's bitch slapping him with baby powder.

Yeah, I find it funny how WFNZ's host have to get dialogue by criticizing Cam, or the team. Most good host, find away to have interesting dialogue, with out searching for trolls to criticizing their star player and team.

Beyond that though, and arguably more important, his performance last night was a sign of progress.

You heard me...Progress!

Why?  Because the Cam Newton of his first two years (you know, the one with crazy stats but a lousy win-loss record) was a guy who'd start games like a house on fire but then fade the longer the game went on.  He wasn't a finisher, and his record showed it.

The Cam Newton of last year?  Whole other story.

That Cam Newton might have started his fair share of games cold (most gunslingers do) but the longer the game went on, the better he got.  Hence, way more game winning drives than you'd seen at any time in his prior years.  And yeah, lesser stats, but a significantly improved win-loss record.  And that, ladies and gentlemen, is progress!

Heck, given the conditions, I wouldn't have been surprised if Newton had played his entire game like he did the first quarter.  But he didn't, and I'd argue that anybody who doesn't see that as a positive probably has a lot to learn about real world football.

The importance of this cannot be understated.  Cam had better overall numbers in his first two years, but at times the offense tended to disappear in crunch time.  I am not saying it was all Cam's fault, but he certainly didn't play well during those times.  Last year, there were several games in which the offense was at its best when the game was on the line, and I give Cam a lot of credit for that.

You can't put the whole win/loss record on Cam. I watched all the games, I assume you did as well, we know what happened.

The "progress" you speak of wasn't just with Cam. It was the team that had trouble finishing in 2011 and 2012, particularly the defense. Cam Newton and the offense gave the Panthers plenty of leads heading into the fourth quarter in both of his first two seasons.

Fast forward to 2013, the defense was much better not just overall, but at closing games. Cam improved, and the defense improved.

And here's a question related to that, the answer to which I know a lot of people won't like.

What changed for Cam between year two and year three?

3 things still fuel the hate IMO.

1. Cam's narratives were set by ESPN and the like, and lazy people will continue following them

2. People simply can't admit they're wrong.

3. Sadly, race. It will always be a factor for some idiots.

I don't think you can leave 'preferred college or pro team' out of that mix, and I'd probably put it high.
