Why can't Godfrey go back to Safety?

No I don't understand how a person can say players are better then a player who has played and put up decent numbers when the other players haven't.

one of the best questions since TC, why put a dude who hasn't played the cb position since college and coming off a Achilles injury at one of the hardest positions in football, instead of putting him back at the position he was decent at

We have talent at CB and with the injuries to Boston and Harper (who isn't good anyway) wouldn't godfrey be a better backup then Russell and Colin Jones??

Godfrey probably would have started over Mitchell all year if not for his injury. That injury may have done him in, though.

Even with the injury Godfrey is faster then Lester Russell and Harper. And way better in coverage as well.

 

Now I agree we need to spend some high picks on Safety but for this year moving Godfrey back should be a option.

Is it likely? Judging by what the coaches have said... not likely. If you want an answer as to why, you'd have to ask the coaches.

i don't have time for unwarranted Godfrey hate most of the criticism is from his first couple of years.....................

 

i always thought a healthy godfrey/decoud would be the best combo in the backfield with harper/lester as situational backups but i didn't like the harper signing anyway

 

this should have never been and option, Godfrey should have been in competition for the ss position once bene showed promise, i hope this happens soon and Godfrey picks up where he started last year

I can't even understand why moving Godfrey at SS isn't a option at this point.

I really, really want Tre Boston to get back in the mix quickly. He does have the "IR smell" about him but Ron is insistent he'll be back soon so I'm holding out hope.

To be honest, I'm pretty sure Godfrey was given the chance to play the nickel because the leadership didn't think he'd make the team at safety.  Thus, they threw him a bone.

 

Right now, I'd say there's no guarantee he makes the team in either spot.

I totally agree. Other then his blitzing ability I've never understood the move to nickel. If they weren't going to cut him then let him play his best Role.

 

Him and Decoud on the back in is way better then any other Combo I can come up with.

 

I also find it funny that some people don't think Godfrey can't play in the Box. He is 1 of the harder  hitters on the team.

looking at the completion at safety I'd say he had a good chance of starting if healthy
