Why can't Godfrey go back to Safety?

WOW!!

Recommended Posts

Have said many times I'm not a stats guy. I watch how guys play. I've yet to see Harper play for us.

I have, however, seen Charles Godfrey play in our system plenty, and that was before he blew a knee. That's how I know that turning to him as an answer at safety is a mistake.

As others have said, we have no idea how good (or bad) Harper is in our scheme because we haven't seen him. And if he doesn't get healthy, we might not. We'll see what happens there.

But if you think systems and teammates make no difference, remember a guy named Chris Draft? He was mediocre to half-decent for the Falcons, and then suddenly looked good enough for us that Falcon fans were wondering why he never played like that for them.

Or maybe you remember the difference between Dallas Clark when he played with Joe Montana versus playing with the Colts :)

Chris Draft was ok but lets not make him out to be a star.

Plus he had similar numbers with us the Rams and the Falcons.

Guess which one of our safeties other teams went after?

Both of them. They also went after our Front 7 that wasn't very good until last year.

But again why not compare the stats from their last 4 years or is that to much like making a valid point.

Didn't say he was a star.

Said he looked better in our system than he did the Falcons scheme.

Whether you believe it or not, that's something that happens in football.

Because just reading stats is a lousy way to evaluate players.  If you disagree, take a good look at who has the highest quarterback rankings in the NFL and see if you can defend that ranking.

But if you do wanna go the stat route, then I guess we can assume that the post-knee injury Godfrey will be the exact same player as the pre-injury one, right?

It was an Achilles :-)

Best year was 2003 with the falcons and 1 year with us. Other then that pretty much the same player every where he went.

It's the same old kkl. Just back out of the thread before it's too late

I know he doesn't get it, and I'm already bored with it.

Still chuckling because I remember the last time we debated, he talked about how he'd embarrass me with his knowledge of football history.  Then he talked about how much Dallas Clark benefited from having Joe Montana throwing to him

Who's better Lester, Jones or Russell just so I know where your football knowledge is

At this point probably all of them. At his peak ( a laughable statement) Godfrey was very athletic but Dwayne Jarret level game day stupid. He was good for a few picks on completely miss thrown balls - usually because he was way out of fuging position to begin with- or one off a tipped pass from a cb or receiver.

I can probably count his ints while in actual coverage only using my thumbs. And he was always fuging awful at tackling. Like fuging terrible.

But here's the kicker. He used to be able to use his athleticism to half ass cover his retarded angles and blatantly blown assignments. But now after injury.......it would be a goddamn catastrophe.

If you don't realize that then I'm sorry and feel free to judge my football knowledge all you want but I'm not the one acting like they eat paint chips for an afternoon snack.
