Why can't Godfrey go back to Safety?

WOW!!

I know it's very Ironic how you can be a Panther fan for as long as you have and feel Roman can't cover Harper is a better Ss then Godfrey.

At this stage in their respective careers, neither of them are awesome. In fact, they're both probably below average.

Our starting CBs looked good in White and Cason.  Love me some White.

Our safeties are slow and Godfrey seems out of place in our D right now.

I really think we need to grab a faster SS from the coming league wide cuts.

its still different though. its a different team. different mindset. you could be right, but ill reserve judgement until he is on the field.

we started anderson russell tonight. something has to change.

So he played for the 5th best defense instead of the 2nd and that will be the difference in his play???

Harper is old. But put him in front of the best front 7 in the NFL....he should be pretty good. Not great but should get the job done.

Godfrey before the injury never was a S. He never got it IMO

He had a good front 7 last year and still sucked. There is no excuses for his 4 years of being a garbage player.

you literally start threads asking questions and then flip the fug out when someone doesn't agree with you.

do you honestly think the saints defense is the same as the panthers? regardless of statistical positions?

Scot compare the numbers or stop arguing.

Have said many times I'm not a stats guy.  I watch how guys play.  I've yet to see Harper play for us.

I have, however, seen Charles Godfrey play in our system plenty, and that was before he blew a knee.  That's how I know that turning to him as an answer at safety is a mistake.

As others have said, we have no idea how good (or bad) Harper is in our scheme because we haven't seen him.  And if he doesn't get healthy, we might not.  We'll see what happens there.

But if you think systems and teammates make no difference, remember a guy named Chris Draft?  He was mediocre to half-decent for the Falcons, and then suddenly looked good enough for us that Falcon fans were wondering why he never played like that for them.

Or maybe you remember the difference between Dallas Clark when he played with Joe Montana versus playing with the Colts :)

I'm not seeing much better out there right now.

So how does putting him at safety help? He was goddamn terrible before his achilles exploded, god forbid we let him free roam out there now. You might as well bring Nakamura back. He never played with the number 2 defense either....per your argument.

No I think they were a good fuging defense last year and Roman still sucked at safeties as he haa done for years now. So I don't see how that is used as a reason he will be OK in our system.

I also know that we targeted/attacked Harper for years. Running and pass in his direction because he sucks.

We actually schemed to get mismatches against him and some long time Panthers have forgotten that some how.

Guess which one of our safeties other teams went after?

He's better then anybody we're putting back there now. So that's how it helps.
