When you are scoring more than your defense is letting up you don't need 35 ppg. Especially when you have the 2nd scoring defense. Apart of that is long drives for your defense to rest.

Sure you dont need it. But every team's goal should be to dominate both sides of the ball. 

 

ie average 30ppg and give up 14ppg

 

you will have a lot less close games and will cause you to win more games. 

 

Like I said, there is a reason no one uses ppd to rank or measure an offense. 

 

Shula will be replaced if he fields another offense ranked in the bottom half of the league this year.
