Always thought Lucas kept saying that the original films were badly damaged/stored that there isn't any usable film to create a bluray version.

 

In the meanwhile, I'll keep my WS Collectors edition (VHS) in storage. It's the only reason why I still have a VCR. And my Asian dvd bootlegs (ripped from laserdisc) get more playtime than the official releases.
