The final eight games of the second round of DFB Pokal were today:

*denotes second division team, **denotes third division team, ***denotes regional representative

***1. FC Madgeburg 2 (4)

Bayer Leverkusen 2 (5)

***Wurzburger Kickers 0

*Eintracht Braunschweig 1

*1860 Munchen 2

SC Freiburg 5

**RB Leipzig 3

*Erzgebirge Aue 1

Hamburger SV 1

Bayern Munchen 3

1899 Hoffenheim 5

*FSV Frankfurt 1

VfL Wolfsburg 4

**1. FC Heidenheim 1

Eintracht Frankfurt 1

Borussia Monchengladbach 2

Less upsets today.  Only two Bundesliga teams lost today, both to another Bundesliga team (although Leverkusen lived very dangerously).  One second division (Eintracht Braunschweig) joined the four from yesterday and RB Leipzig became the only third division team to make the third round.

The match-ups are set for the third round of DFB Pokal, although the matches will not happen for four months (March 3-4, 2015)

*denotes second division team, **denotes third division team, ***denotes regional representative

Bayer Leverkusen v. *1. FC Kaiserslautern

***Kickers Offenbach v. Borussia Monchengladbach

Bayern Munchen v. *Eintracht Braunschweig

*VfR Aalen v. 1899 Hoffenheim

**RB Leipzig v. VfL Wolfsburg

*Arminia Bielefeld v. Werder Bremen

SC Freiburg v. 1. FC Koln

*Dynamo Dresden v. Borussia Dortmund

Only one game features two clubs from the top division while five of the seven lower teams get to host.  Wish the layoff was not so long.

  • 2 weeks later...

Leverkusen has worked their way into the top three while Schalke has moved back into a Europa spot for the time being.  Spots 2-8 are separated by a mere four points.

Come on Schalke..my heart's been taking enough of a beating this year thanks to my Spurs. Et tu Brute??

I really hope they can pull out a spot in the Round of 16 for Champions.  Would give Germany all four teams through with possibly three group winners.  That five goal defeat to Chelsea though is a killer, now goal differential cannot help.  Need to win and a victory from Chelsea as well.

    • I think a lot of wrs are going to go in the second round before we pick.  There are a lot of wr needy teams.  I think there will be a big run on them in the late 30s and 40s.
    • Interesting that they met with Walker three times and Cam Jackson twice.
