It was just an observation that if you ask this to people here, a place know internationally for great food, the answers would look different than the chic-fil-a, fries, dunkin doughnuts, Mac and cheese answers given. That's not saying there aren't awesome places to eat over there, Emerils even just opened E2 over in Charlotte. Just sayin answers are more reflective that Charlotte is know for corporate banking and NO is known for great food and nightlife.

Mac and cheese done right is out of this world

I have had some great meals in Paris, London, Rome, New York, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Chicago, and a number of other places.  Love to try different foods from different places.  But that doesn't mean my favorites would change.

I have an idiot ex brother in law who swears that far and away the best food in the world is Louisiana cuisine.  But after eating some of what he considered great food, I realized that he just meant making everything spicy hot to the point of making it nearly inedible.  Don't get me wrong, I like some of the food in New Orleans, but if given a choice for my last meal, Lexington style bbq with hush puppies and fries and a krispy kreme doughnut would be the choice.  Nothing I had in any of the places list above has changed that.  Although I have to admit a couple of Paris deserts and a pasta dish I had in Venice came close.  .

The ironic thing about Paris was that although we ate a couple of meals it some of the finer restaurants, we all agreed that the best thing we tasted in Paris were the crepes from the street vendor near our hotel.   The best food doesn't always come from the most expensive restaurants.

Hummmmm tough one.

Give me a great filet, all clad pan, some salt pepper, and a drop of olive oil, along with a dollup of butter and sprig of thyme, and a really hot burner or salamander.

Enough ingredients to make some crazy good scalloped potatoes and the same for roasted asparagus.

I want to prepare it all.  Also if you could have some music on, maybe rat pack stuff and a case of the best cabernet that you can get your hands on.

Lexington Style BBQ sandwich, crispy fries, and a Krispy Kreme Kreme filled doughnut.

I grew up in Thomasville and ate Lexington style BBQ at least twice a week growing up. I haven't been back to NC in about 13 years and would kill for some good BBQ, red slaw, and hush puppies.
