Single Game Tickets for Opening Night?

Proudiddy

Recommended Posts

So, I had been checking periodically on the tickets, and I'm still contemplating buying season tickets, but in the meantime, I wanted to ensure that I was there for opening night...  Up through about a month ago, there were still plenty of single tickets left for opening night.

So, I check tonight, and it's only showing one game per month for single tickets, and the opening night game is NOT one of them.  Any idea what is going on here?  Are they literally sold out, or did they just take them off for the time being with the schedule just being released and all?

I feel like if single game tickets went on sale, they would have been advertised by now.

I have yet to see anything on the Hornets website other than pick plans and suites.

A few weeks ago season ticket holders were approached by the Hornets with the option of buying group tix for opening night. They had to be purchased in 25, 50, or 100 blocks. My ticket lady said they were selling fast and more than likely the general public wasn't going to have an option to buy them because they would sell out. I wanted to buy some in the lowers but they were already sold out or on reserve for season ticket plans. So all that was available then was uppers.

Edit: I should also mention that they were selling them WAY above normal single game value and they were on a sliding scale. The cheapest tickets started at $42 and adjusted based on remaining inventory. By the time I spoke to my ticket lady the cheapest tickets were $59 and those were the top corners of the uppers.

So buying season tickets or off the secondary market are really going to be the only options for opening night.

They have tickets set aside for the packages they are offering. In reality opening night is not sold out. As time gets closer to the game, the tickets assigned to packages will become available if the packages are not sold. You will see tickets available for the game in the lower level the closer it gets to the actual game unless every package available is sold out which will not happen. The only thing is there will be a rush for these tickets when the become available. Roaring, at the end of the day your talking to a sales lady. They are trying to move tickets so they will position their presentation in a way to create demand. Once you ask them about availability in a different way the truth comes out.

Take the single game rate for a ticket last year and then double it. This was what the ended up charging for playoff tickets to the public last year once the Heat was finally announced with the dates. I expect it to be roughly the same pricing for individual tickets as the demand will be similar to the playoffs. Once they double the price they have an issue selling tickets.

That's pretty much what I was alluding to. Tickets were on sale for opening night a few weeks ago but they aren't selling lowers because they're holding those for ticket plans. There aren't many (if any) left in the uppers, so if you're thinking it's going to be no problem grabbing some lowers for face value when they become available then you're probably going to be disappointed. There will probably be some, but I think the demand for this game will be much higher than the playoff game and that's with LBJ in town. This is a historic event for fans.

And my ticket lady has been my IRL friend for three years. I'm more than confident she's not trying to steer me wrong - she never has.

Was hoping the secondary market would be a little stronger honestly. Just a quick glance and it looks like the big night next year is when the Cavs are in town. Prices for that game is double opening night which is kinda heartbreaking.

I haven't had a chance to look....you're saying that the Cavs game tix are double what opening night is? That won't hold true.

Anyone that has an extra ticket looking for a hot date opening night?

But seriously, do any of you know if ebay still has the open auctions for tickets?  I once copped two lower levels for a Heat game (the year before they acquired the big three) for around $120 total on ebay.  Last time I checked though, they sold out to stubhub or something similar and pretty much eliminated the chance of getting the tickets through an auction without meeting the reserve (which was pretty much face value).

    • I didn't say much bigger. Watch the highlights I linked. Bryce doesn't have the arm strength and/or talent to make the vast majority of the throws Mac made in that video.
    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
