If Hardy's conviction isn't overturned, he might not play for awhile

So hey, you're a dope for saying that. Just thought I would stop in and let you know you said something really dumb. You should try not to do that in the future because then people will think you're dumb.

I say the more you can hurt a player for smacking women around, do it. Maybe, just maybe, a player will think twice about that before going all Scarface on his significant other. I don't care if it hurts Greg Hardy. Because the two words already hurt Greg Hardy in the court of public opinion and the real court of law: FOUND GUILTY

If the only way you can reach these idiots is by taking game checks and playing time then by all means use that method. This is more cowardly than using PEDs and more intolerable than recreational drugs. It should be reflected in the league's reaction.

You got any women in your life you care about? Put her into this situation hypothetically and read your own post again.

You weren't there, so calm down. One girl is one the phone with police in the lobby yelling that "that girl is getting her a** beat", while at the SAME TIME, Greg is on the phone with police saying that he's being chased around his apartment by a crazy girl waving a shoe.

Like many have said before, it's a he said/ she said situation, and no one knows what happened but them.

Whether he is found guilty or not on the second go-round is irrelevant to Goodell handing out a suspension. I don't see him waiting for the new trial before bringing down the hammer.

Not true at all.The league said they were going to respect the judicial system and let the process unfold or something to that effect.  In other words they won't be making a decision until after the court case is resolved.

I would think his lawyers will be saying that they will have to use the rules that were in place at the time of the incident.   Can't change the rules after the fact.

IMO it is a mute point because a Jury of His Peers.  No freaking way 12 agree that he is guilty.

There are not rules for domestic violence like there is for drug offenses which are covered by the CBA. The commissioner can lay down whatever punishment he wants. Not sure what a lawyer could do about this.

It is sad that media hypocrisy is driving this. Domestic abusers have gotten small suspensions forever while drug offenders get much more serious punishments for smoking weed (because there is no leeway in the CBA). Why is there such an uproar now when this has been happening for decades?

So nothing  will be done until after his appeal? What if his conviction is overturned? (because whether you agree or not, he was found guilty) Will there be no punishment?

Not saying that isn't how it is going to play out because I haven't really been following it but that just doesn't seem in line with how things have been done in similar cases.

And the quote about "respecting the judicial system and letting the process unfold was from Getleman when asked if the Panthers would suspend him.. I never heard that statement from a league official.

He has actually

Again a bench decision is not the same as being found guilty by a jury so until the appeal is heard, he is essentially not going to get any punishment.  Think about it for a minute.  If he wins the jury trial and he already got fined by the league it would be a lawsuit for sure.

This whole case is unusual in that most folks prefer a trial by jury because if you are guilty you can fool a jury much easier than a judge.  So for his attorney to have the judge try the case they must have thought that based on the facts they were going to win with no problem.  When things backfired and he was found guilty of course they went with a jury trial.

The league has said the case was under review   Here is an article published on August 4th.

http://www.thestate.com/2014/08/04/3600585/jury-trial-for-panthers-greg-hardy.html

The team believes the league will wait until after the trial is complete and likely has been in communication with Goodell to come to that conclusion.  After all what advantage is there to jump the gun and punish him right away.  It isn't as if the evidence is clearcut like it was in Rice's case.  There are conflicting stories and if he is found innocent, then the league would be culpable for punishing him unfairly and liable for a lawsuit.  If he is guilty then they proceed with the punishment at that point.  Honestly there is no advantage to doing it now and some disadvantages.

It seems to me that if they Hardy still must be judged under the Ray Rice rules since that is when his incident took place. Any new rules would have to effect those instances that come afterwards. Be would have a very strong case against them should they treat him differently than Rice.
