A joke can be an exaggeration of how you really feel, or not what you really think at all. Anyone with a modicum of common sense could see Hardy's case is far from cut and dry. Hell, I was talking to a Steelers fan the other day who also happens to be a district judge and she said that she would have thrown the case out immediately based on the fact the accuser admitted to cocaine usage and avoided the police.

Secondly he has not been found guilty and if he is, I would think that since it happened in the past then the punishment would only apply to future offenders not past offenders.  The rule is to deter future domestic violence not address what has already occurred,

 

As for joking about domestic violence, that kind of cavalier attitude is part of the problem.  Sure he might be guilty and she might be a wack job, but it is hardly funny on any level. Especialy since it affects millions of families every year.

Take it with a gain of salt. All someone had to do is appeal on the grounds of the Ray Rice suspension. That was the precedent set. If the league wants to get tougher, include these situations in the next CBA.

They were completely different situations. Hardy is in a he-said she-said debate over a few scratches and minor bruises with a police report siding him.

Rice punched out his fiance. Then dragged her limp body out to the curb. on camera. Then to make matters worse, she still married him.

That last part really infuriates people that are into Women's Rights.

You're right, two different situations. Ray Rice and his Wife are now advocates against domestic violence TOGETHER and Greg Hardy and his ex girlfriend are still fighting each other through the legal system.

That was not by a jury trial so the results don't count unless he loses the jury trial.  The constitution guarantees you have a right to be tried by your peers in a jury trial which is why the appeal was almost automatic.

It is a deterrent to most folks just not folks who are impaired at the time or just believe they are above the law or won't get caught.

Yeah I know.....  Most folks who commit crimes get caught because they keep doing until they get caught.  Most folks if they do something illegal and don't get caught will tell themselves they were lucky this time and better chill out before they caught. Most times they don't get caught.  Folks who end in prison are often the guys who say that it was so easy lets go do it again. Hopefully hardy is in the first category and not the second.

Wrong, frankly I'd like to beat the $h!t out of my wife sometimes and the only thing that keeps me from doing it is the threat of jail. Like my wife, their are many women that know they got their husbands by the balls with the threat of alimony, child support and a long, agonizing, expensive, drawn out divorce process like in SC. So therefore these women think they can put as little into the relationship and just run their mouth all the time and push the guys buttons until they snap. Can you tell a nerve of mine has been pushed?

I know not all women are like that. But some are and for the ones that have to deal with them. . .I just want out . . . it's not as simple as saying just leave.

 Whether he is found guilty or not on the second go-round is irrelevant to Goodell handing out a suspension. I don't see him waiting for the new trial before bringing down the hammer.
