Thomas DeCoud Question

Panthro

Recommended Posts

He is a stopgap.  The Panthers will shirely be replacing him.  I watched a lot of him this offseason because I was fascinated that such a talented guy just a few years ago fell off the map.

He will be a liability for many things that your defense will be able to mask - your DL and Keuchly will stop the run from getting to him.  And he will not give up a huge play often, though he has become a bend and do not break type of player.

If he is on the team in 2015 I will be amazed.  If he is starting I will question everything and everyone possible on why.

DeCoud was a standout (both good and bad) in Atlanta. Last year, he was lit up but The Falcons had no pass rushers. So I tend to believe he was used as a scapegoat for their problems. The year before, Thomas was selected to the Pro Bowl and he legitimately deserved it.

Is that not the year they had a legit pass rush before they let go of all their pass rushers?

Maybe it's a good thing Decouds name wasn't said in TC. I never heard of him getting burned in coverage which is really all I want to know about. I am more worried about Harper than Decoud. I know both were probowlers and Harper has been know as a big hitter but I have seen him get blown up and ran over a lot on other players highlight films. That really bothers me.

All he has to do is stand behind our front 7 and not be Nakamura.  He will do that just fine this year and Pittsburgh or Minnesota or Buffalo will probably pay him 25 million afterwards and we'll get another non-Nakamura for 900k.  And so it goes, and so it goes.  Maybe someday they'll even stop giving out 25 million to our non-Nakamuras and say "oh pooey.  Maybe it doesn't matter who you put behind that front 7 and we should stop giving 900k non-Nakumura stop-gaps 25 million."  Maybe someday the same thing will happen with our offense.  Maybe after a year of 650 yards from Steve Smith and a good productive year from our non-Legedu WRs, people will start to say "oh pooey.  Maybe it doesn't matter that Cam Newton has never had an entire corps of WR that anyone else would want or anything comparable to what the comparable young QBs around him.  Maybe it's HIM that's good."

I doubt it.  But yo.  It's your 25 million.
