So someone has depression already and has for his whole life and drinking issues, and now is told the news of such a terrible disease and another battle he has to do in his life..... sounds like the perfect storm of forcing someone to do this.

Right, you can't really pick.  And for someone with depression already it's a mountain they can't overcome.  This is why I've held off on labeling him selfish or anything like that, because I don't think that motivated him.  The human mind is a wonderful thing but also a terrible thing at times, and I don't know what another human is going through at a certain moment. 

 

I'm glad depression and things like this seem to be getting some coverage.  Especially with the news that he was diagnosed with Parkinsons and was also sober.  Just goes to show that it really is a real sickness and people need to be aware.  I hate that we won't see him again, but I hope something good may come of it that maybe awareness will increase tenfold of mental diseases so we can help/treat people better.
