looks like Bell and Williams at LT so far

Realistically, that's most teams.

Pretty much nobody has an elite backup left tackle, but people think that's unique to us.

I didn't say LT. I said OT. We're in a position that if any offensive tackle is hurt, we're fuged. Hell, I'd even go so far as saying that if we lose any player on the entire offensive line, we're going to have major, major problems. And that's with counting on a rookie and a guy coming off an ACL injury.

Optimistic viewpoint....

Chandler is the starting RT. Team knew this from beginning. After cuts they will pick up a decent vet tackle to plug in at LT. Bell at LT is just a gimmick and keeping him from competing at RT. Bell goes to the bench as the #1 backup.

Or...

Bell really is the LT and Cam is fuxked.

I can understand the stress of not having the solid oline that we all want, but its getting a little ridiculous.  You guys act like our administration has no clue to our weakness, if we all can see it dont you think they can as well.  And as for the sky falling with Bell, i thought he played pretty admirably and the fact that he is stepping up and providing leadership is big.  He seems to have a different demeanor about the way he is going about playing this year, and i actually trust byron at the left side.  The only side i worry about is chandler and the rt spot and i honestly thing gman and the admin will pick up some guys to provide depth once the cuts are made.  The sky isnt falling guys it was one preseason game and the starting oline did pretty good, with chandler as the exception and i feel like he will get better as he goes, just isnt starting caliber yet.  Byron has been around the block and I feel like he will be ok.

Our offensive line was bad last year, and that was with Jordan Gross on it. This year it's going to be even worse. And it's not just Bell, look at the rest of the offensive line.

Bell / guy coming off an ACL tear / Kalil / rookie / guy who has never played T in an NFL game

So, tell me, how is that something that's "going to be okay"? And something "not to worry about"?

Here's a quick experiment in perspective...

Go to the websites of several NFL teams and take a look at their depth charts.

Come back and tell me how many of them would be just fine if their starting LT went down.

The quality of our starting OT is an issue, but I seriously doubt other teams are as set on depth at tackle as people here seem to think.

Again, it's not just LT.

How hard is that for people to understand?

Eh, look at how easily the Saints replaced their LT last season. No one is saying everyone has elite depth, but most teams have someone who could play LT decently. Anytime Gross was out or injured(which was rare) Wharton could be plugged into the left.

You're referring to the guy that Hardy and I believe the Seahawks also essentially shredded...That looked like an 'easy replacement' to you?

Apparently pretty hard, since if you check, you'll notice the last paragraph you quoted says 'OT' not 'LT'.

Mr Scot, there are times when I think you have an actual inability to read. Or, at least, reading what is actually said and not what you want to see. Let's take, for example, your quote here.

That's the "last paragraph" I quoted (if you want to call it that). No where does that mentioned "OT". Instead, it denotes LT, as plain as fuging day. You should know, you typed it.

Before that, I quoted this jumbled wall of text:

Notice how the conversation was entirely about the offensive line as a whole? And not just "OT" or "LT" or whatever else the fug you want to use as a deflector.

Now please, try fuging reading next time before trying to buck up with your internet elitism.

I have concerns about our starting LT, LG, RG, and RT. Funny people gloss over our G situation....it is just as worrisome as the T spot

I'm glad someone else in this thread is capable of understanding that our offensive line, not just LT, is in a really awful position. Our guards could be good, but who knows. One is a rookie and one is a dude coming off an ACL tear. How much can you rely on both of those players for 12 weeks, 16 weeks, the playoffs, etc.

And that doesn't even touch on the depth. If we lose ONE, one single player, as it stands right now, and we'd be fuging screwed.
