R.R did say after the 2nd pre season game they would decide the starter...Chandler falling out of favor then....maybe destined for the right side or he isn't what they expected at thus point.Guess they are determined to give Bell every chance to take it with Williams next in line.You would think if Chandler was the guy he would be getting the bulk of the work there...looks like that hasn't been the case.He showed poorly last game and maybe they have already decided. I don't know what to make of this carnival ride at LT anymore.

the job's been bell's to lose almost the second gross decided to retire. i think the competition for the spot has really been for who can fill the spot if something happens to bell.

I don't think most rational people here are expecting "elite".

 

But at the absolute minimum we need competent players on the OL, and at this point that doesn't look all too good. Our depth is scary.

Unique to us is having a franchise QB.....and letting an undrafted backup caliber T and former DT convert battle it out for starting LT

Eh, look at how easily the Saints replaced their LT last season. No one is saying everyone has elite depth, but most teams have someone who could play LT decently. Anytime Gross was out or injured(which was rare) Wharton could be plugged into the left.

75 cut after the 3rd preseason game and 53 after the last. I can't see us not picking some Olinemen up from those cuts. I am sure they see how bad our depth is and our line. Just don't think they see anyone worth adding yet.

No one is asking for elite, simply NFL caliber would be nice.  Our OL depth is bad at best.
