Stewart on the practice field

Jmac

Recommended Posts

someone gets it......were talking about a guy who's been getting paid to not practice or play compared to guy who AT least is on the field trying to earn his money(still a big contract)but at least he plays

I believe he restructured as well didn't he? D will is a good guy all around, work ethic, player on and off the field and does his best. He has the best ball security out of all the backs, even when he fumbled in the season opener last year.

If Stewart goes down again this year. I would not be the least surprised if he is cut next year, when the dead weight on his contract won't be so hard to swallow. I'm sure Gettleman knows this. He's a freaking genius.

you guys have been saying this for years"d will is getting cut this year", "d will june 1st cut" it's not who g-man is rolling with it's Rivera .............j stew has never been more reliable then williams,he's been healthy 2 seasons he's been here.

again Stewart has the edge in receiving, blocking, and power........that's about it

Up until last season....Stewart was more reliable on Sundays during the Double Trouble era.

Rivera prefers a healthy 28. Showed that in 11 and 12

yeah d will is a legit guy, sometimes his value is underestimated imo,it amazes me how some crown a rb who rarely plays better then a guy who's been on the field the last 3 years.....if he gets injured again i can see dg cutting him as well,we have tolbert who can mimic what Stewart gave us in the running game

Williams has had huge fumbles as of late....big moments.

what.......d will missed one season from 2008 until now, how many games has stewart missed since?

Rivera Preferred a healthy stewart in 2011, he has since split the carries,he and the whole nfl knows Stewart can't carry the load as the sole rb........no offense to the coach but this is a guy who put Fua in at every chance he had.........can't say i think preferring Stewart over Williams is another great idea in the making

Throw in his receiving ability and pass blocking skills and he's superior to DeAngelo especially with DeAngelo's age.

He's the better blocker, receiver, and put up similar stats ...

Stewart is the most rounded RB on our squad (speed, power, agility, vision, athleticism, blocking, receiving, etc).

This is perhaps the greatest Huddle myth. Our version of the Loch Ness monster.

PFF rated RB's for a 3 year period on their blocking skills. Who was not just bad, but actually the worst in the league? J Stew.

Don't believe me, fine, read it yourself here:

Williams missed games in 2009 and 2010.

2011 - Stewart played more reps than Williams, played a larger % of the offensive snaps than any RB in the NFCS. In 2011, Syewart made us the most diverse offense and that is he was on the field the most. Williams was the "starter" in name.

2012 - Williams again had the starter in name designation and a couple games in Rivera made it official....and said Stewart was the starter.

Then Stewart for hurt.....and Williams has been the guy bc Stewart couldn't get healthy.

PFF also broke down the most elusive RBs.....28 was always well ahead of 34.

This is part of their premium stat package, so they only listed the top 10 (actually the  bottom 10) and DWill wasn't part of that group.

Stew has had a few memorable crushing blocks, so people tend to assume he is good at that part of the game, but much of it has to do with picking up assignments, and apparently he is not so good once you get beyond the highlight reel stuff.

And this has what to do with blocking?

I wasn't making a case for or against overall ability, just pointing out a common misconception about one part of Stew's game.
