Cam was photobombing kelvin Bejamin

cam is not nearly the only player having fun on the sideline here or anywhere. he's not nearly the only one mugging for the camera at times and he's not "always looking for the camera" tho the camera is always on him. that's not his fault and if you have a problem with him always being on the camera, you've got problems...esp. if the problem you have is with him. the cameras love cam and cam likes to live it up and have fun. he got to enjoy the game watching his teammates as a spectator and a fan. i seriously don't know why anyone would have a problem with someone demonstrably enjoying what he does as well as watching his teammates play on the field or why it is an issue at all.

ths idea that he has to stand their stoically acting like a "professional" is absurd. it's a game that he loves. get over it.

Bingo.

Yet, you won't see ESPN calling them selfish or pouty.

That wasn't the point I was trying to make. At this point it's become crazy on the huddle. Cam is going to be this way and I've noticed this gets brought up a ton during preseason the past two years.

I didn't like it last year when he was posing for pics with Joe Adams and big frank. Because I wanted to see him watching the other players and taking advice and giving advice... I got ripped apart and was called a racist on here.

Guess what he did the first preseason game this year? Everything that I wanted to see him do last year in preseason.

The point is people on this board are so quick to label someone a racist based on absolutely nothing. To me, it's just an old school mentality. My dad always talked about loving jerry rice because he acted like he had been there before. Dropped the football and ran off the field. Players are just different regardless of race. They react differently to games and that's ok. I tend to like the players that show enthusiasm compared to the ones like rice. They are more fun to watch and a little more entertaining.

The media is another thing. Cams narrative was already written after the college allegations and it will follow him for the rest of his life in regards to the media. Is it fair, no. But I don't think race really has anything to do with it. Although, I've been known to be wrong it's just my opinion.

You can't really say that race does not play a part at all. Obviously it does not for everyone, but it is a factor.

I remember that thread, and I know you are not a racist Rum, though I still say it was silly to worry about then, and it's sillier now.

It's sad, but some of the rhetoric we have seen in this very thread is strikingly similar to that of what was seen before he was drafted. Yet it's been 3 years now, and it's still around. Why is that exactly? Why can some individuals not let this archaic mentality go?

It's the same ignorant garbage as when he was only compared to other black quarterbacks and the talk about his "fake smile"

You're one of Cam's biggest supporters (unless I'm mistaken). So I don't see how anyone can call you racist, if you have a divergent opinion.

Hell, I listened to the afternoon guy on WFNZ for the first time earlier this week (his name escapes me--Kreuger)?

Though fans didn't like when he said he'd be happy with 9-11 wins max. He also said some stuff later, that let's me know he is both a strong Panther and Cam Newton fan (when discussing the Peter King, Darin Gannt/PFT fiasco, he skewered those that would mention "maturity" regarding Cam, but not themselves. He felt Cam was mature all along). No doubt!

So when he does say something the fans disagree with, I don't want to hear people phone in and call him a Cam or Panther hater. He's not.

Not all fans are going to agree on everything. We have to accept that.

Not only that: Media isn't stupid.

They troll these sites for topics. And when they see/hear that Newton's fan base is arguing over something about Cam; they'll pick it up. Cause their excuse, attitude is, "well Panther fans disagreed on it". And they'd be right.

Now, I'm not sure they picked up the Hurney interview from black and blue.com, or this website. However, I don't care in that instance. Cam did nothing wrong. So I had no problem with him speaking to his former GM (who hired everyone he was discussing) about the Panther offense, then and now.

However, any idiot Huddler (as you're mentioning) that criticizes Cam or questioned his judgement, can open it up for idiot media to make fun of Newton as PFT did. Panther fans should be aware of this (as you're alluding, otherwise they have other intentions or love of Newton)

Now, maybe the National Media would do it anyway. However, Panther fans have to know that, Newton most times is acting no different than many other QB. The only difference is: the Media likes to put their own spin on it, when it's Newton.

Or maybe we're asking for too much from Huddler's?

i don't think that was collegepanther's intentions. i even commented a few pages back how that was kind of similar to that "plays for the camera's" article and he should watch it a bit.

some people are just old school. TONS of black athletes don't/didn't celebrate or do the things Cam does today in the games or on the sidelines. Does that make them Uncle Tom's? That's the kind of logic you are using. That this is some sort of black culture for them to celebrate like that. And it's mean old white men who are trying to keep them down. Sorry i don't buy it. People are just different in the way they react to the game, in the way they celebrate with teammates and fans react favorably or unfavorably to it. it's just a part of life and it's apart of being human.

The only personal examples i can give are from those close to me. My dad's favorite athletes ever were willie mays, jerry rice and bo jackson. He tended to like the quiet guys who went about their business without saying too much. It just appealed to him. He didn't like prime time and he didn't like barry bonds. Does that make him racist? Just because some people in this world hate Cam because of the color of his skin and his success doesn't mean you can say the same thing about people who hate Cam because of his "swag," because of his prime time like celebrations, and because he doesn't act like he's been there before. That doesn't make them racists it just shows what they don't like that personality in an athlete. It's no big deal and you should really watch it with throwing that word around but it's just the internet so whatever. :)  so tl;dr some people are racists against cam and some people just don't like his personality. no biggie

i personally am wishing for him to flip the bird to the camera's when he's holding a Lombardi but that's just me.

The problem with the Huddle is that you cannot discuss a subject except from one side.  If Cam is too Hammy, the you are no longer a fan AND you are actually racist, all for having an opinion of antics on the sidelines.  Very juvenile bunch here.

I don't like hype from ESPN, so Farve, Manziel, Tiger Woods, etc, get on my nerves because the game is smaller than these guys in their eyes.

This is the Huddle in a nutshell.  The Game to me is more important than some guys desire to be on camera.  Here at the Huddle, blind allegiance to all things Panther is required.  You think we should trade a guy due to his contract, you are not a fan.  You think a guy like Steve Smith is using his mouth too much as he ages rather than his hands and feet, then you have never been a fan according to most here.  I would be livid if I were a Browns fan just because Manziel is hanging out in Vegas and committed to his "down time" a bit too much for me.  Sure am glad he is white, or, well you know.....

And The Red is usually the first one to bring race into just about any thread.  Again, immature to the max.

I am sort of like Rummy's Dad, I want to see the guys act like they've been there before, no discount double check, no break dance, no hidden phones in the goal posts, etc.  I guess that makes me a racist somehow.

I don't think it's black culture or whatever if cam is celebrating extravagantly like that. Cam is an individual. Some individuals are more excitable than others. It's just that for some reason people want to put their stereotypes on Cam just because of the way he acts sometimes. It's ridiculous.

You can have an opinion but when you start going to it seems fake the way Cam is celebrating or acting on the sidelines like CollegePanther did than you deserve to be dumped on.
