Greatest TV Characters of All-time

Far as I'm concerned, the best thing William H. Macy has ever done. It is irreverent humor at its best.

I'm really interested to see what the writers do with Lip. If there was a disappointment to the show, it was how they ended Justin Chatwin's role as Steve. I thought that whole thing was kinda lame.

Agreed.  Did you see the end of the last episode though?  Jimmy-Steve is back and now named Jack, although last I heard they were unsure if he was going to be a regular again or how big his role would be.  I am interested to see some explanation, I wonder if he is in the CIA or Witness Protection or something.

I am also looking forward to see their handling of Ian's bipolar disorder.  So many people are ignorant about that condition and use the term to describe people that are just normally depressed.  As someone who knows several that suffer from it I hate the way people make light of it, same thing with OCD.  I cannot think of a show that I would rather see handle the situation.

Jimmy/Steve's last episode was supposed to be when he disappeared on the yacht and was supposedly killed. The script and even the writers stated during a panel discussion that the intent was Jimmy/Steve was killed. But the audience wasn't convinced as message boards and fans began asking what the hell happened to Jimmy/Steve, so they brought him back.

My mother was bi-polar when we were kids. I'm almost 60, so this was long before anyone knew what the hell it was. All we (4 of us kids) knew was my father taking her to the hospital for 2-3 days at a time and we couldn't see her. This was a regular occurrence into the 1970's. None of us kids really knew the truth until less than 20 years ago when we began talking about it. We're all just grateful that it wasn't an abusive household and we just knew our mother's moods and knew when to stay away. My father remained the loyal caretaker (to a fault) and always had us involved in sports or other activities that got us out of the house as Mom never worked...moms didn't have to back then.

my thought process is you have to be identifiable by one name to make the list:

Kramer

Homer

Heisenburg

(the) Rock

Cosby

Lucy

Mulder

Cartman

Kirk

Stewie

Kermit

Frasier

(the) Beaver

Tubbs

Hawkeye

Lucy (I love Lucy?) (if so, that is strong)

I'd add:

the Cancer Man from Xfiles.

JR

Boss Hog

Capt Picard

Mr. T.

Gilligan

Alex P Keaton

would like to add the Brady Kids but individually they don't quite make the cut

my dad would add Howdy Doody, Lone Ranger, and Roy Rogers

Some of the best character actors come from the 30 minute comedies.

Guys from

Andy Griffith Show

Cheers

MASH

Seinfeld

Everybody Loves Raymond

You can take your pick from a lot of the guys in these shows.  Maybe not even the top guys, like Floyd the Barber, Lillith, Frank Burns, and Frank Barone.
