Questions for my pilgrimage:

I'm going to be coming out to Charlotte this year with my girlfriend for a home game, preferably the saints* game. Travel and tickets and car won't be too hard to figure out, but being unfamiliar with the area, what are some good hotel suggestions near nightlife in CLT?

Just stay somewhere in uptown if you can afford it.  Plenty of hotels, walking distance to everything.

What kind of budget are you talking about... like, what do you mean by cheap? Many uptown hotels still charge several hundred per night even when there is nothing going on.

Or do you mind staying a little further out?

Most people here will tell you epicentre sucks, but tourists flock to it. The Ritz, Aloft, Omni, Hyatt Place and a few more are all a block or two away.

There's a nicer holiday inn downtown ("uptown") and only about two blocks from everything. You could also try the Marriott. Basically, any name brand hotel is only a few minutes from everything. You can't go wrong.
