Pre-season Game 1: Winners and Losers

Recommended Posts

Norman is always hard for me to peg one way or another. He does make some poor plays, but he usually makes up for it (at least in pre-season). Call me crazy but I actually enjoy someone in our secondary showing some fire and intensity. In the regular season it may cost us but right now I like to see passion out there especially when a guy is fighting for his livelihood.

I love feisty guys. Talk all the smack you want if only u can back it up. The int was a given.

Norman was punked tonight.

I will save my winners/losers for guys who are not automatics to make the team.

Winner: Whitaker  Loser: Barner

Winner: Addison   Loser: Ealy

Winner: Norman    Loser: Godfrey

Ealy struggled with the first team, but he got significantly better as the game went on. Rivera praised him post game.

I was happy with everything but run blocking and KR/PR

The run blocking was fuging horrible.. I think people are ragging on Barner a little too much. The OLine just couldn't run block tonight.

I think not. Barner played nearly the whole game and did nothing. Reeves did more with the same old crappy oline blocking in a few series then Barner did all game. Hate to say it dude. But unless Barner improves soon. He might be cut. Just saying.

Barner had opportunities with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string Olines and special teams.  Not much positive to report.  He goes down very easily.

That is why I would keep Fozzy over him as my scatback/change of pace guy

Reaves was a winner too. that kid showed Barner up with the same OL play. i really think (and i really hope) that Barner will be gone in a few weeks. this experiment with him needs to be over now. i really think Joe Webb made a case for a 3rd string QB position, or PS addition. Lucas, King, Bersin, and Brown all impressed me tonight. i really want to see Bersin and King get time with Cam and the 1s. I think Underwood and Pilares will be on the outside looking in when cuts happen at WR. still dont know who will stay between Lucas and Brown but i am pretty sure one of them is gonna go. OL protected the pass surprisingly well, but played and defended the run shockingly badly. i still have hope that the run game can be fixed, and to be fair... it was the 2nds and on down the line that sucked. the 1sts werent out long enough to accurately judge.

norman a winner? nah man. he was beat bad all night long. was just in the right place at the right time for that INT. and how was Ealy a loser? i can admit that he got exposed tonight. but the kid is still adjusting at a traditionally difficult position to succeed in as a rookie. give him time. i am giving him the whole preseason to show something before i start losing faith.

Blanchard probably moved down in the depth chart tonight. Not only did he look really average, but Webb looked tons better.

I would like to see what Bersin looks like with Cam, DA, or Webb taking snaps.

Blanchard was worse than average. he was downright terrible. i dont know why the coaching staff kept him in so long.

Pretty accurate.

Have we ever seen Cam like this before??

no. and i love it. Leadership and fire man. Cam will take this team places with more than just his athletic play.

Joe Webb is garbage.

you must have been watching a different game tonight...

Also not good for Underwood. I didn't even see him on the field today.

i only saw him targeted once. and he dropped it. bad sign for him in a crowded competition

i could care less about fire and intensity if the playmaking is severely lacking. and with Norman, it appears to be.

Ealy did not get an A+ tonight that is for sure.  But to say he was a loser is plain asinine stupidity and a clue that someone did not critically watch the game (or was drunk) and is justifying his opinions on what he has heard the media spout during the last week of training camp.

I mean no personal offense, but Ealy was a loser tonight?  No.  Just no.
