I'm interested to see how he plays in press coverage. Tweets from camp made it seem like he struggled with it. Is that a known issue that rookie WRs have? we haven't had a young WR worth a shit in so long, I don't even know what is reasonable to expect from the kid this year.

I think that it's a young WR thing, and a big WR thing.

 

Not quite as shifty and explosive off the line, most CB's can jam them and still have time to catch up if they get a clean break.

 

Hard to catch up to the super quick/fast WR's out there if you don't get a good jam on them.

It was a big reason Dwayne Jarrett was awful....and never played

It is also an area of concern KB had coming into the NFL

And he practices against weak comp in our practices. People act like he is a stud that needs vet starter reps in preseason. Did Cam play only a series or two as a rookie? KB needs reps and lots of them IMO

Hell, outside of Muhsin Muhammad and Smitty this franchise has never been blessed with anything besides subpar WR's. Kelvin could potentially make our top 10 all time receiving leaders. We still have guys like Rocket Ismail in our top 10...

he wouldn't be getting that in the second quarter against buffalo either. why keep him on the field against the other team's backups?

one quarter is fine. he'll get plenty of reps soon enough.

Rookie Cam was more important than rookie KB.

Cam needed reps. Against opposing starters, backups, guys that wouldn't even make teams.

KB needs reps. There are lots of savy vets that often see the field with "backups".

Dude, KB will get his reps. Its the first game, the second and third games are for the heavy reps. And Cams situation was different for a QB, coaching staff wanted him to earn the starting position and even still he didnt play that much the first game. Cams training camp wasnt as superb as KBs either.
