Your team isn't going to win every game. You're not going to be successful at everything in life. NFL teaching life lessons it seems like.

I suppose but it was still tough to see I mean she couldn't have been more than like 7 you know ? Makes you think sometimes about the profound effect this great game can have

Again, it's up to the parents to explain to their children that every game has a winner and a loser, and once the playoffs start if your team doesn't make enough plays you're done till next year. Sorry, I have no sympathy for situations like this. At the end of the day it's a game. Not life or death. Your life will go on when trash talking Sherman bats the ball up for a game sealing interception.

You realize Peyton complains and yells at refs when he feels a call is bad right? The only thing he doesn't do is trash talk opponents. He's yelled at officials and teammates before.

Some of the greatest athletes in the world were the best trash talkers. Its just apart of the game. That's what I loved most about Michael Jordan game that he could talk poo then back it up.

I guess my opinion is not shared and I can accept that. I always enjoy a fun debate well done friend :) I suppose I see your point that a certain degree of trash talk is fine, although I do think it should be done sparingly it seems you are correct about it being part of the game to some degree.

I choose....not changing a thing.  Changing even one moment in the past would effect everything in the future.  Our records would have changed, personnel would have changed, our draft position/intent would have changed.  I am happy where we are right now and would not change a thing so that we can keep things the way they are right now.

Yes, we have suffered.  Yes 2010 sucked so bad I was tempted to watch baseball on Sundays.  But if any of that was altered we would not have our current roster, man for man.

I'll look to the future with hope rather than looking to the past with regret.

I kinda agree with everything you say...but...Peyton Manning may have been a franchise changing pick.

Beat me to it. Every time Cam does the Super Cam he's putting the spotlight on himself. You think he doesn't know the rest of the League hates it, and that it rubs the opposing Defense's nose in it? Yep he does. Does it stop him from doing it? Nope not at all....

The thing is...Cam does it out of joy, not malice. That makes a big difference.

If you point the spotlight at yourself (Lights Out dance, Super Cam, Kaepernicking etc) you open yourself up to retaliation from your opponents. The Patriots didn't do anything wrong imo.

You think Cam wouldn't have mocked Kaep had he been able to score and give us the lead? You're fooling yourself if you say no.

No... Cam would not mock another player. He does his thing out of joy, not malice. Big difference.

how am I holier than thou ? I'm simply saying smack talk isn't the best way to do things because it shows lack of character ? I don't understand why you defend smack talk ?

"Smack talk" can make your opponent do things they wouldn't normally do. If it can help you? Why not? Smack talk is not talking about your momma. Smack talk is talking about your play. If your play does not measure up, you get smacked.

Okay but imagine if you will the effect that has on say a little kid who looks up to that player that's being humiliated on television it's hard to take for some children to see their heros made fun of and it's not even necessary these men are paid to play a great game there's nothing wrong with being an entertainer but why should anybody be made to feel like a less than ?

I'm sorry but children don't need to be this protected. "My child is a great student", " Everybody wins", "Fair play is good play", are all examples of coddling to the youth. Sometimes, children need to learn that life is not fair. Harsh? Maybe. True? Yupperz.

I can understand that but I still would hate that for any child I saw a little girl with a 49ers cap on crying her eyes out at that NFC championship game and it absolutely broke my heart :/ I love children and want them each to enjoy life and have their heros and be happy that gave me quite a negative view of things like that

Sports are a metaphor for life. They are not meant to be a guiding principle. C'mon man. If you have nightmares over a spoting event, you are taking it too hard.

,

There is a difference between trash talk, and degrading talk. Most players will tell you anything, like you don't belong, or you suck at this, or how did you even make the team, to get you off your game. But...there are those players who will take it farther. Those are the players that take it too far.

"Trash talk" is meant to induce an opposing player into making a mistake. Taking it farther is...unsportsman like. That I will give you.
